The late Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, left the nation shattered by ending his life due to his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania and her family's Rs. 3 crore demand as alimony and Rs. 40 lakh monthly maintenance. Atul Subhash left a 24-page suicide note, a video and 'justice is due' his last wish. While Nikita Singhania, her mother, Nisha Singhania, and her brother were arrested, Accenture also took a major step by locking their profile.
For the unversed, Multinational company, Accenture has locked its profile on X in the midst of growing demands to fire Nikita Singhania from the company after the tragic suicide of her estranged husband, Atul Subhash. The late 34-year-old techie clearly stated that he was ending his life due to Nikita Singhania's false cases of framing him and his family to extort money.
The case has sparked debate across the nation and reignited the debates surrounding the misuse of dowry laws and framing the husbands falsely. In response, the Supreme Court of India introduced an eight-point framework for calculating alimony in divorce cases, which aimed to promote fairness and equity.
For those who don't know, Nikita is working as a senior AI Engineering consultant at Accenture in Delhi. Soon, people started demanding the MNC to fire her. After being flooded by multiple posts to fire the techie's wife, the firm locked their social media profile.
After the nationwide protests and demand for justice were rife, the police summoned Nikita. However, reports claimed that she, along with her family, was on the run. However, on December 14, 2024, she and her family member filed anticipatory bail pleas in Allahabad High Court. But, on December 15, 2024, they were arrested.
As per an ANI report, Nikita was arrested in Gurugram, Haryana. On the other hand, her mother, Nisha Singhania and her brother, Anurag Singhania, were arrested from Prayagraj. After the arrest, they were sent to judicial custody.
Men do suffer, and no matter what the world says, at times, things become so ugly that they are forced to end their lives. Atul went through the same ordeal in his last heartbreaking video, which has been going viral on the internet. Atul revealed that his wife, Nikita Singhania, demanded a sum of Rs. 3 crore to withdraw her cases against him. Frustrated by the judicial system, which is in support of women, Atul decided to end his life.
Atul Subhash's drastic step has rekindled the debate across the country about the pressure and humiliation a man has to go through under the dowry act, which is being misused against the boy's family. The lawyer Dinesh Mishra, who represented Atul Subhash in the family court, said that he presented a truthful account of his experience with the justice system.
