Avinash Tiwary Opens Up About The Time He Accidentally Hit Amitabh Bachchan And His Hustle In B-Town

Avinash Tiwary is an Indian actor who rose to fame with the 2018 romantic-drama film, Laila Majnu. The actor also starred in the psychological thriller TV show, Yudh with Amitabh Bachchan. In a recent chat with SCREEN, Avinash recalled an incident from the shoot when he accidentally hit the veteran actor on his head.

Avinash Tiwary opened up about the incident that left him feeling embarrassed and shared that it was the first time he had met Amitabh Bachchan, and they had to do an action sequence together. The actor revealed that it was the first time he had to do an action scene. Avinash shared that the scene required him to duck Big B's punch and give him back. However, he accidentally hit Amitabh on his head. Recalling the incident, Avinash shared:

"The first time we (him and Amitabh Bachchan) met we had to do an action sequence. I had at that point never done an action sequence in my life. In the scene, he had to punch me and I had to duck and give him back. Fortunately, I only hit him on his head but the embarrassment I felt at that time, I still haven’t recovered from it."

Avinash Tiwary revealed that there was pin-drop silence on the set after the incident

Avinash Tiwary further revealed that the set had gone into absolute silence. He shared that he walked up to Amitabh Bachchan after the incident and apologised. Avinash recalled he was so nervous at the time that he had asked Amitabh for a rehearsal scene. Amitabh, who was still holding the back of his head, told him that action scenes are like dance choreography and told him to take it slow. Avinash stated:

"It was pin-drop silence on the set and I went in for another punch because they didn’t say cut. It was the instinct of an actor that took over. I walked up to him and said sorry. He said, 'Yes you hit me on the head.' I apologised and in my nervousness, I asked him if we should do a rehearsal and he, still holding the back of his head, looked at me like, 'From where have you gotten this guy.' He said, 'But we will do it slowly.' He told me that action is like choreography so just dance."

Avinash Tiwary on fame and success

Avinash Tiwary shared about his journey in the industry and shared that he has accepted hustle as a part of his life. He shared that he was pursuing a degree in engineering when he decided that he wanted to be an actor. He recalled that he had no idea about the entertainment industry and its ropes, so he enrolled in Mr Barry John in Delhi and then went to the New York Film Academy. He revealed that he had imagined the road then would be easy but eventually realised that's when his hustle actually began.

Avinash also shared about his success with the film, Laila Majnu. He shared that it took him 15 years to play a protagonist and three for the filming, and all of them disappeared in three days. He shared that he is still here and hoping for the film to be re-released.  Avinash said:

"From 2003 to 2018, 15 years it took me even to say that I am a protagonist of a film (Laila Majnu). We took 3 years to make that film, and on the 3rd day, the posters of that film were taken off. At that point, I didn’t know what to do. It took me 15 years to get that opportunity, and then it disappeared in 3 days. From there on, I am still here and seeing the re-release of the same film."
