Ayan Mukerji requests the paps not ask for better pictures at his dad, Deb Mukherjee's prayer meeting. Watch the full video here.
Ayan Mukerji has been devastated. This is because his father, Deb Mukherjee, left for his heavenly abode on March 14, 2025, after reportedly being ill for a prolonged time. The prayer meeting of the veteran late actor was held at North Bombay Durga Puja Pandal in Mumbai on March 18, 2025. Deb was 83 when he passed away, and his representative shared that the family is deeply saddened to inform of the passing of Mr Debu Mukherjee, an actor and driving force of the North Bombay Durga Puja. Now, Ayan who was managing the prayer meeting in the memory of his dad, requested the paps to not ask for better snaps of stars.
Ayan at the venue stepped aside for a moment, spoke to the paps and requested them to respect the nature of the situation that took place and not pressurise celebrities to ask for better stills. Ayan shared that he felt like there would be a lot of commotion inside. Ayan was seen telling the photographers outside the venue that:
"It’s a prayer meet—it’s quite personal. If you feel you are not getting better shots, then I am sorry, but I think, for us, this will be a better arrangement today. This is a very personal event for us. It’s not like Durga Puja."
Ayan also shared that they did not have the kind of space where different shots of pictures could be given. This was because shlokas were happening inside, and if there were too many photographers, then it would get very noisy. He requested that the paps understand that the event was very personal for them and that visuals would be shared with the paps later.
Ayan's dearest friend, Ranbir Kapoor, was papped inside the car. He had requested the paps to move back so that he could roll the windows. Ranbir looked broken and was dressed in white for the prayer function. Ranbir, as a true friend, cut his trip to Alibaug with Alia Bhatt, where he had gone to celebrate the birthday of the actress. He carried the body of Deb Mukherjee on his shoulder and offered a mark of respect during the funeral process that took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Juhu, Mumbai.
Vicky Kaushal was seen dressed in a casual shirt and blue denim. He folded his hands, met the paps, and walked inside the prayer meeting area. Aditya was also seen entering the meeting area in white, and blue. He had a serious face on before he made his way inside. Music composer, Anu Malik along with veteran actor, Jeetendra and filmmaker, Imtiaz Ali were also seen at Deb Mukherjee's prayer meeting.

Deb's last and final journey rites were attended by his closest family members and film stars from the Bollywood film industry. There were stars like Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt who came for the funeral rites. Deb was known for his work in moves like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Do Aankhen, and Baaton Baaton Mein, to name a few.
