On March 15, 2020, Ayushmann took a journey down the memory lane and revealed how he fell in love with Tahira while studying for the board exams. The actor shared a collage of Tahira on his Instagram handle, and wrote, "It was in 2001. We were preparing for our board exams. At 1.48 AM I’d confessed my feelings over the phone. Bryan Adams was playing on my stereo. Inside Out was the song. It’s been 19 years with this goofball. Umm", followed by a heart emoji. Check it out below:
On their 11th wedding anniversary, Ayushmann had shared a throwback picture of Tahira. Along with it, he had written a heartfelt note that could be read as "Eleven years with this beautiful girl. At Hindustan Shikhar Samagam 2020 event, Ayushmann was asked why he had chosen not to hide that he was married, unlike earlier superstars used to protect their single status. To this, Ayushmann had shared the idea of being the best husband and had said that one should love his wife so much that even neighbour’s wife falls in love with him. He had further added, "Time has changed, earlier there used to be a mystery around an actor’s life. The trend of superstardom will soon be over. Now the content is king. Tahira is not just my life partner, she is also my life coach. She also used to teach me during college when I used to remain busy with theatre."
Ayushmann and Tahira's love story is an inspiration for all the new lovers, but like every other couple, they too had their share of ups and downs. In an interview with SpotboyE, Tahira had talked about the time when she had felt insecure in her relationship. She had shared, "I had a problem with him kissing on screen. I felt like a big, huge fat whale sitting at home. When you are pregnant your hormones also go up and down. Here this boy is looking at his youngest youth best and he is romancing women and what is this onscreen kiss! We both were very young. He didn’t have the time and patience to take me along and I didn’t have the patience to understand. There was this disconnect that we were not there for each other to take each other along in that journey. Somewhere he knew that she doesn’t mean mad. I also knew he wasn’t cheating.
