Badshah Reveals AR Rahman Apologised To Him Amid Latter's Divorce From Saira Banu, 'He Called..'

Amid AR Rahman and Saira Banu's divorce, rapper, Badshah revealed that the former once apologised to him.

AR Rahman has been grabbing the headlines with his personal life. It was in 1995 when he got married to Saira Banu. Well, after 29 years of their marital bliss, the couple decided to part ways. The singer has penned a long note, wherein he expressed his agony over this tough phase of life. And amid this going on, Badshah, recently revealed that AR Rahman has once apologised to him.

Badshah reveals that AR Rahman apologised to him

In an interview with Radio Nasha, Badshah shared that AR Rahman criticised him for remaking his song, Humma Humma, for the movie Ok Jaanu. The rapper revealed that he had to receive a whole lot of flak for remaking AR Rahman's original song, Humma Humma, and the music maestro himself was very unhappy. Well, it was for a limited time that AR Rahman remained unhappy with Badshah, as at an event, the former called the rapper to apologise. Badshah mentioned that AR Rahman had told him that it took him time to realise that the song was good. In Badshah's words:

"I faced a lot of flak when I did Humma Humma. Rahman sir was also very unhappy. But at an event, I remember, he called me, and he said, 'I am sorry. It took me time to realise it’s a good song. I was just unhappy because of...' There were some things, and that was probably the biggest validation that I wasn’t looking for, but I got."

In the same interview, Badshah mentioned that it was the biggest validation that he had received. The rapper said that he knew what he wanted to do, and he did it, which was the best part. Badshah, in the same conversation, stated that he could flip a song and make it sound very Badshah in tone without taking out the authenticity of the OG version, and only he could do it. Badshah could be heard saying:

"I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and that’s the best part. When you know exactly how you can flip a song, how you can turn it into a Badshah song but not take away from the original song’s soul."

AR Rahman's personal life

It was on November 19, 2024, when AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu's lawyer, Vandana Shah, issued a statement in India Today and revealed that the couple had decided to part ways after 29 years of marital bliss. The lawyer stated that although, there's love between the couple, a lot of difficulties and issues cropped in that caused the gap between them. Vandana revealed that Saira has taken the decision after a whole lot of pain and agony, and as of now, the couple feels that not bridging the gap would be better.

For the unversed, AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married in an arranged marriage set-up. The couple's marriage was fixed by the singer's mom. The singer, in an interview with Simi Garewal, shared that he had no time to look for a suitable bride, and thus, he asked his mom to find him someone, who wouldn't cause much trouble in his professional life and would possess a beauty, education and a whole lot of humility.

He also stated that his wife has two sides when it comes to her personality, and she's either calm or angry. AR Rahman mentioned that Saira used to be very frustrated at the beginning of their marriage as she would have to live in an unconventional way for being the wife of a celebrity.
