Badshah Reveals SRK's Advice Helped Him Bounce Back From A Rough Patch, 'I Felt Liberated'

Badshah credits Shah Rukh Khan's advice on embracing creative breaks and helping him overcome a rough patch in his music career.

Badshah, the popular singer and rapper, recently opened up about an unexpected encounter with Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, during a flight. The rapper had been going through a rough patch and felt unproductive with his songs when King Khan’s advice became the exact words that he needed to hear at that time.

Badshah recalled an unexpected meeting with SRK that changed his perspective

Badshah recently sat for a candid chat on a podcast with Fever FM, where the rapper mentioned an unexpected encounter with Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. Recalling the incident, Badshah mentioned that SRK had noticed him on the flight and sent his manager to invite him over. Recounting the experience, Badshah shared:

“Recently, I met Shah Rukh sir the other day on a flight, and it somehow helped me. I was not in a zone, it was a rough patch creatively. First, his manager, Pooja Dadlani, came over and joked, asking if I was done with my modelling while I was clicking a photo. Then she invited me over, and to my surprise, Shah Rukh sir was also there.”

Badshah revealed he was struggling with his music and felt creatively blocked when he met SRK. During their conversation, Shah Rukh Khan asked him whether he was in the middle of making any music, and he expressed that his music was not turning out well. To this, King Khan offered a simple yet powerful piece of advice by saying that he should not force it if it’s not coming from the heart.

The superstar also recounted an anecdote from his own sabbatical from acting, when he had only learned to master the best possible way to make pasta for four years. Badshah recalled the interaction, saying:

“He said, ‘Kya kar raha hai? Gaana bana raha hai?’, I said, ‘Nahin, acche nahi ban rahe’. To unhone bola, to mat banao… Kehte hai, man se nahi ban raha, to mat banao. For four years, I didn’t do anything, just learnt how to make pasta… It was liberating.”

SRK’s Pasta Philosophy struck a chord with Badshah

For Badshah, the interaction with Shah Rukh Khan proved to be more than just a casual conversation. His anecdote about his own sabbatical deeply resonated with him, and led him to reflect on life from a different lens. Badshah recalled how SRK’s pasta story felt liberating and helped him understand that sometimes, taking a step back can help us focus on ourselves better. The singer-rapper shared in the interview:
