Bappi Lahiri's Grandson, Swastik Pays Emotional Tribute To His 'Dadu', Leaves Mom, Rema Teary-Eyed

Legendary singer-composer, Bappi Lahiri had left the entire nation heartbroken as he had taken his last breath on February 15, 2022. The world of music has lost one of the most precious gems with the sudden demise of Bappi Lahiri. For the unversed, the singer, who had ruled the 70s and 80s with his foot-tapping songs, had developed a chest infection and was treated for the same. However, his condition has worsened, and we had lost the biggest maestro of the singing world.

When the whole nation was mourning the loss, late Bappi Lahiri's grandson, Swastik Bansal, had taken to his Instagram handle and had expressed his grief through a post. Swastik had shared a beautiful picture of his dadu and had penned an emotional note dedicated to him. Atop it, he had written:

"Miss you so much dadu. Rest in peace. Love you. RIP (with a folded hand emoji) 1952-2022)."

Bappi Lahiri's grandson, Swastik Bansal led an emotional tribute for his beloved dadu at the Mirchi Music Awards that were held in Mumbai on March 8, 2022. In his tribute, Swastik sang one of the biggest hits composed by Bappi Lahiri, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna from the 1976 film, Chalte Chalte. In a recently released video, Swastik Bansal can be seen performing on the stage as his mother, Rema Lahiri, had joined him. Singer, Sonu Nigam was also present on the stage.

As Swastik had started singing, a collage of pictures of the late singer-composer, Bappi Lahiri appeared on the screen in the backdrop. Bappi's daughter, Rema started tearing up as soon as she heard the song. Swastik, too, couldn't control his emotions and broke down towards the end of his performance and hugged Sonu Nigam. Meanwhile, Sonu completed the rest of the song and the audience stood up to pay respect to the late singer.

A few weeks back, we had stumbled upon multiple videos from Bappi Lahiri's antim darshan, and one look at any of them had simply broken our hearts into pieces. From Bappa Lahiri carrying his father along with some other family members for the late singer's final rites to watching his sister, Rema Lahiri, being completely inconsolable, it speaks everything about the complexity of life. Bappi Lahiri was extremely close to his children, Bappa and Rema, and had always treated them like friends. Thus, no wonder his sudden demise had shocked them, and it was sad to see them in so much pain. 

On February 23, 2022, Bappi Lahiri's family had hosted a prayer meet in remembrance of him. Several celebrities had attended the event to pay tribute to the singer, including his wife, Chitrani Lahiri. For the unversed, Bappi Lahiri's last on-screen appearance was also with his grandson, Swastik Bansal, when they went to Bigg Boss 15 to promote the latter's song, Bachcha Party.
