Barun Sobti recently gave an insight into his parenting experience and shared how embracing fatherhood changed him and how his daughter has been dependent on him for a long time.
Barun Sobti has been one of the most loved actors on television and OTT. He is most commonly known for his role as 'Arnav Singh Raizada' in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and 'Nikhil Nair' In Asur. The actor successfully transitioned from films to web shows and never fails to surprise the audience with his acting potential and versatility. Barun particularly nails the serious and mysterious roles with his aura. In his personal life, the actor married his high school sweetheart, Pashmeen Manchanda, on December 12, 2010. The couple held a private ceremony in a Gurdwara and welcomed a girl, Sifat, in 2019 and a boy, Meer, in April 2023.
Barun Sobti has mostly kept his personal life away from media glares. However, he recently sat down for an interview with News18 and revealed that he ensured that he spent much time with his kids after their birth. The actor shared that his daughter was born during the pandemic, and he had a lot of time to spend with her. Similarly, he was working on and off when his son was born. As a result, he got ample time with his kids, which changed him. However, he admitted that parenting isn't an easy journey. He was quoted as saying:
"When my daughter was born, I wasn't working because the pandemic was on. But that gave me a lot of time with her. With my second born, too, I got to spend a lot of time even though I was working on and off. At that time, I remember not working for five months. Life post-fatherhood is different. It's hard to put it into perspective. I'm not going to lie like other parents and say that everything is heavenly."
The Kohrra actor further explained that becoming a parent and managing kids is not easy, as some people say. There is a mix of beautiful and difficult moments in reality. Barun added that many more things are involved in parenting than people talk about. In his words:
"Parenting isn't a shiny pink picture that's painted. It's actually a lot of things. It's about beautiful moments that you encounter every now and then. Your child says or does something every now and then that brings you pride and love. But there are tough moments, too."
In the same conversation, Barun revealed that he and his wife have hired nannies to care for their children. But, when his wife got pregnant, and the couple welcomed a son last year, he looked after his daughter despite the presence of a nanny. So, the actor explained how he has changed diapers and put his children to sleep, ensuring to spend a lot of time with them. Barun further opened up about how there is no going back from being a parent, and even his parents call him daily, and he shares his schedule with them. He said:
"Both of our kids are taken care of by nannies. When my wife conceived our son, she was occupied and consumed like most new mothers. One year after he was born, my daughter was very dependent on me, irrespective of whether there was a nanny or not. So, I've changed a lot of diapers and have put my babies to sleep every now and then. I spend time with them whenever possible. After being a parent, you're never going to become a non-parent."
On the work front, Barun was last seen in the web series, Amazon MiniTV series, Rakshak - India's Brave 2. He will next be seen in Raat Jawaan Hai. Interestingly, the actor will play the role of a stay-at-home father who deals with the ups and downs of parenthood.
