The horrifying Bangalore suitcase murder has shocked the entire nation. As per the latest reports, Rakesh fooled the tenants by claiming that his wife, Gauri, committed suicide.
The case of a 36-year-old man killing his wife and stuffing her body into a suitcase has been leading the headlines. The accused, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, killed his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, after the duo indulged in an altercation over a trivial issue on March 26, 2025. After stabbing his wife, Rakesh stuffed his wife, Gauri, into a suitcase.
Police detained Rakesh near Pune minutes before he surrendered at Shirwal police station. The recent investigation has revealed many facts about the case, and the details are very alarming. Rakesh had moved to Bangalore from Maharashtra a month ago and was working from home. Whereas, Gauri had quit her job and was searching for opportunities in Bangalore.
Since Gauri could not find any suitable opportunity, she blamed him and insisted on returning to Mumbai. This led to constant altercation between the couple. As per the police, on the fateful night of March 26, 2024, the couple had another argument when Rakesh lost his cool and stabbed Gauri multiple times. He stuffed her body into a suitcase and left for Pune the next day.
On his way back, he called a tenant living on the ground floor and claimed that his wife, Gauri had committed suicide and asked them to check on her. He tried to fool the tenant and mislead the investigation. Rakesh also called the landlord, who called the police. When the cops force opened the door, they could not find any body hanging, but did find Gauri’s body in the suitcase.
On his way back to Pune, Rakesh called Gauri’s brother and informed him that he had killed Gauri. Her brother alerted the local police in Maharashtra. Rakesh purchased poison (cockroach killer) on his way to Shirwal and consumed it. He felt uneasy and narrated the whole incident to a passing biker, who took him to a hospital in Shirwal.
Rakesh is Gauri’s maternal uncle, and as per multiple reports, she completed her schooling while staying at Rakesh’s home. Soon, the two fell in love, but their respective families were against their union. They were in a live-in relationship for four years before getting married against their parent’s wish.
