Bhagyashree Reveals Salman Khan Called Her 'Fat' When She Was 5 Months Pregnant During 'MPK' Shoot

In a recent interview, Bhagyashree recalled the time when Salman Khan called her 'fat', when they were shooting for the posters of 'Maine Pyar Kiya', as he was unaware of her pregnancy.

Bhagyashree made her acting debut in Hindi cinema with Sooraj Barjatya's timeless film, Maine Pyar Kiya. In the film, she was paired opposite Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan, who was only doing the third film of his acting career. It was a fresh pairing and instantly made a place in everyone's hearts. The chemistry between 'Prem Chaudhary' (Salman Khan) and Suman (Bhagyashree) is still considered as one of the most iconic onscreen pairings in Bollywood.

Bhagyashree recalls the time when her 'Maine Pyar Kiya' co-star, Salman Khan said to her, 'You have gotten fat after marriage'

In a recent interview with Rashmi Uchil for her book, Raising Stars, Bhagyashree was asked to spill some beans from her debut film, Maine Pyar Kiya. The actress shared a lot of behind-the-scenes instances that happened while she was shooting for the film, along with her experience of working with Sooraj Barjatya. However, it was her revelation about her pregnancy that has gained attention from every corner.

Bhagyashree revealed that when she was shooting for the posters of Maine Pyar Kiya, along with Salman Khan and others, not a single person was aware of the fact that she was pregnant. The actress admitted that when she was shooting with renowned photographer, Gautam Rajdakshya for Maine Pyar Kiya's posters, it was Salman, who told her that she had gotten fat after her marriage. She said:

"When ace photographer Gautam Rajdakshya did the photoshoot with Salman and me for the posters of Maine Pyar Kiya, I was 5 months pregnant. No one knew. I remember Salman telling me, 'Shaadi ke baad moti ho gayee ho."

Further, in the same conversation with Rashmi Uchil, Bhagyashree talked about her decision to bid farewell to Bollywood despite shaving a dream debut. For the unversed, Maine Pyar Kiya was released in 1989, and in 1990, she got married to the love of her life, Himalaya Daswani. In the same year, on February 21, 1990, Bhagyashree and Himalaya welcomed their first child, a baby boy, whom they named Abhimanyu Dassani. After a few years, on January 24, 1995, the couple welcomed a baby girl and named her Avantika Dassani.

Sharing her thoughts on her decision to leave Bollywood at a time when she was at the peak of her acting career, Bhagyashree clearly stated that raising her children was her utmost priority back then. The doting mother also highlighted the importance of being with your children in their initial life stages. From pointing at the need for mental security to how vital it is for a child to have their mother around them, Bhagyashree explained:

"I believe when the kids are growing up, in the initial stages, the kind of bonding, the kind of foundation, the kind of mental and emotional security a child gets having his parents around and especially, the mother around, surpasses everything. That's what mattered most to me."
