It was on April 30, 2016, when Bipasha Basu had added the surname ‘Singh Grover’ to her name and had tied the knot with her Alone co-star and beau, Karan Singh Grover. For the wedding day, Bipasha had chosen a traditional red Sabyasachi ensemble which she had accentuated with a heavy choker neckpiece, maatha patti, nath and jhumkis. Bipasha’s bridal look was elegance personified and opting for the classic red colour made it even more drool-worthy and special. In an interview with The Economic Times in 2014, Bipasha had expressed her wish to be dressed as a Bengali bride and had said, "I am from Bengal and when I get married, I will definitely want a traditional Bengali bridal look. I want it to be very extravagant as well." Bipasha Basu’s stylist, Shyamli Arora had spoken about her wedding outfits in a throwback interview with Masala.com. When asked about the thought behind styling her traditional wedding and contemporary reception and mehendi look, Shyamli had said, “Bipasha was very clear that her nuptials would be completely traditional in terms of the rituals, the date and time (mahurat, so to speak) and, of course, the clothes and colours. She has known Sabyasachi from her modelling days and choosing him to design the outfit for her special day was a given. Besides the fact that he is the best in the country for traditional bridal wear, he also understands the nuances of a quintessential Bengali wedding.”

Shyamli Arora had continued, “The result was a gorgeous gold zardozi-embroidered lehenga in her favourite shade of red. The jewellery was picked to match the outfit from Kishanchand Jewellers, who are based out of Hyderabad but retail at the Sabyasachi store in Mumbai. The nath and maang patti are my particular favourites as they enhanced her exquisite Indian features. Juttichoo, a footwear brand from Delhi, customised her jewelled gold footwear to complete the look.”

Ace designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee had also explained how special it was for him to design a wedding lehenga for Bipasha Basu. He had shared, “I know Bipasha from our days in Calcutta. Much before she became an actress. So for me, designing her wedding outfit was sentimental. To add to that, we are both Bengalis. And she was very sure she wanted to be a Bengali bride in 'Sabyasachi Red.' (Bipasha) did all us Bengalis proud. She wore Chandan and a shola mukut, she covered her face with betel leaf. This is what I love about Indian weddings. As a bride, on the day of your wedding you always come home." (Also Read: Deepika Padukone Posts First Picture From Her Anniversary Celebration In Tirupati With Ranveer Singh)
