Throwback to the time when Bipasha Basu talked about her ugly breakup with John Abraham and how it left her abandoned.
Bipasha Basu and John Abraham were the hottest pair of the early 2000s. Their sizzling chemistry in the film, Jism in 2003, is still considered one of their best works to date. It was during the making of the film that John and Bipasha fell in love with one another. The duo, who attended every event post Jism were quite serious before their ugly fallout.
When the couple announced the news of their breakup, their fans were heartbroken. Though the couple has never revealed the real reason behind the breakup, John once took the onus on himself by stating that he was not ready for marriage. But time and again, Bipasha hinted that John’s infidelity was the reason behind the split.
Though John kept stating that the breaking was amicable, Bipasha denied it and stated it was not at all amicable. In a throwback interview with Times of India, Bipasha revealed her condition after her breakup with John Abraham. Revealing how she felt abandoned and would howl, she stated:
“I felt abandoned. I was living in a lala land till then. Now sitting today I feel I was so foolish. During those nine years, I retracted from my work, pushed back opportunities, stood like a rock for the man I loved, did not meet people just to give that extra time to make my relationship work and then I realised that the thing I was working so hard for was gone overnight. It took me months to realise that it's over and I am abandoned. I went through a lot of pain. I used to howl, went into isolation, it hurt.”
After her breakup, Bipasha was devastated and openly admitted to giving her 100 per cent, but she was still being abandoned. She had previously dated Dino Morea and Milind Soman, with whom the actress shares an amazing bond. In fact, Dino also attended Bipasha’s wedding with Karan Singh Grover. In an interview with Hindustan Times, when the Raaz actress was asked whether it is possible to be friends with an ex, she responded:
“See if your ex is an assh*le, it's not possible. But if your ex is a good human being and things didn't gel well between you, then of course it's possible, but it depends.”
Bipasha’s reply was surely a dig at John, with whom she is not at all on good terms. As per rumour mills, John’s current wife, Priya Runchal, was the ex-couple’s common friend and would go to the same gym as them. Soon after John broke up with Bipasha and was cited as being commitment-phobic, he got married to Priya Runchal right away. Bipasha, in many interviews, had pointed out John’s infidelity, and he has denied the same.
John Abraham met Priya Runchal when she visited Mumbai in 2010. John and Priya got married in the United States in an intimate ceremony in 2014. The information became public when John shared New Year wishes to fans, signing off as 'John and Priya Abraham.' John's wife, Priya Runchal, is an investment banker who prefers privacy and is rarely seen at Bollywood parties. In an interaction with Times Now, John was questioned about why his wife stays away from the eyes of the media. To this, the Desi Boyz actor said:
“This is the way I like it. She is a private person. She finished her course from a business school in London and was earlier in Los Angeles. She chooses to quietly do her work and I appreciate it.”
Apart from being an investment banker, Priya also has great business acumen and manages John Abraham’s football team, North East United FC, based in Guwahati. Priya rarely makes an appearance in the media and prefers to stay away from the limelight. On the other hand, Bipasha Basu is now happily married to Karan Singh Grover, and the couple has a daughter, whom they named Devi.
