Bollywood's 'Masterji', Saroj Khan Dies At The Age Of 72 In Mumbai, Bollywood Pours In Condolences

Condolences started pouring in from all over the industry, Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to mourn the loss of the most celebrated choreographer, Saroj Khan!

Bollywood industry's foremost choreographer, Saroj Khan, who has single-handedly given new dimensions to dance forms and choreography, breathed her last at the age of 72 in Mumbai. As per the reports, she succumbed to cardiac arrest at 1:52 AM on July 3, 2020. She was admitted to the city's Guru Nanak hospital on June 20, 2020, after complaining of breathing issues. Her last rites will be performed today in Mumbai itself. According to reports, she had severe diabetes. She has left behind her son, Hamid Khan and daughters, Hina Khan and Sukanya Khan. One of saddest days in the history of Indian cinema, July 3, 2020, when Bollywood woke up to the news of the great choreographer, lovingly called masterji by many, left for the heavenly abode at 1:52 AM in Mumbai. Bollywood had never known as dedicated and talented a choreographer like Saroj Khan, and today, when she's not with us, the whole industry is mourning the irreparable loss that Bollywood has suffered!

Condolences started pouring in from all over the industry as soon as the news of Saroj Khan's demise came out. Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to mourn the loss of probably the most celebrated choreographer our generation has seen, Saroj Khan, who had single-handedly changed the face of choreography in Indian cinema.  Akshay Kumar wrote on his Twitter handle, "Woke up to the sad news that choreographer #SraojJan ji is no more. She made the dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace." Riteish Deshmukh, who had worked with her once, remembered how she had changed the landscape of how songs were shot and wrote a heartfelt eulogy on his twitter handle. His tweet can be read as "Rest in peace Saroj Khan ji. This loss is immeasurable for the industry and film lovers. Having choreographed more than 2000 songs, she single-handedly changed the landscape of how songs were shot. I had the pleasure of being choreographed by her in Aladin. One tick off my bucket list." Saroj Khan's favourite muse, the dancing diva of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit is deeply saddened by her masterji's demise and shares some iconic pictures of her on her IG handle with a heart-melting note. She remembers how was it for her to get mentored by the very best. Her note for her masterji can be read as "I'm devastated & at an utter loss of words today! Saroj ji was part of my journey since the beginning. She taught me a lot, not just about dance but so much more. There's a rush of memories in my head thinking of this big personal loss. My heartfelt condolences to the family."

Our gorgeous bebo, Kareena Kapoor Khan also remembered Saroj Khan and how she used to deal with her incompetency in dance while choreographing her. Kareena took to her IG handle and penned a note recalling how Saroj Khan would train her. She wrote, "Master ji always told me, perrr nahin chala saktiii toh kam se kam face toh chalaaaaa. That’s what she taught me, to enjoy dancing, smile and smile through the eyes. There can never be another. Dance and expression can never be the same for us actors and for everyone who loved her. Did you know that Shilpa Shetty had started crying when she had met Saroj Khan for the first time? Bollywood diva, Shilpa Shetty remembered how she had met Saroj Khan for the first time and how she had choreographed some iconic songs of her career. She took to her IG handle and shared an age-old unseen picture with her beloved masterji along with a long note, which can be read as "‪A LEGEND has left us. Can’t forget the moment I first met you when you came to choreograph ‘Kitaabe’ ( Baazigar), and I burst out crying (I was a huge fan of your work) I couldn’t believe you were actually standing in front of me. Then came ‘Churake dil’, which was a milestone in my career and many more. You set the benchmark so high, taught me ‘how’ to express... a technician par excellence. No one shot women like you; you were the best! Will miss you. Churake dil mera #Saroj ji chale. May you rest in peace, Masterji. Strength and love to the family to cope with this irreparable loss."

One of the finest actresses of our generation, Kajol recalled what was it like to look at Saroj Khan while she was dancing! She shared a black-and-white unseen picture of her with masterji and wrote, "RIP to the most talented coolest choreographer ever! She taught me sooooo much that I always used everywhere in so many other ways. When she danced, it was like watching a whole book! Everything that she wanted to say was there so clearly on her face and in her body language. Even later, when she grew older whenever we met, I could see that mischief and affection and sheer love for her work. Love u Sarojji and be at peace knowing that u are loved and will always be remembered."

Ace Bollywood choreographer, Remo D'Souza, who had worked with the great Saroj Khan and had practically learned and trained under her, mourns her demise gravely. He took to his I.G. handle penned a eulogy for his masterji, stating how the dance fraternity has suffered an irreparable loss. His note can be read as "Got up with a huge pain in my heart, on hearing about your demise, you were an institution in yourself, the biggest loss to our dance fraternity, was fortunate to dance under you, dance with you, choreograph you and choreograph with you and direct you. Will never forget the love and the passion with which you would choreograph each song the passion in your eyes was like never seen before. Thank you for teaching me so much. You will always be remembered and always in our hearts. Saroj ji, my condolences to the entire family. R.I.P. mam."
