Post her demise, Sridevi was honoured at the National Film Awards this year, where she was posthumously bestowed with the Best Actress Award for her film Mom. Widower husband, Boney Kapoor, and daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, received the award on her behalf in New Delhi on May 03, 2018.
Post the announcement of the award, Boney, Janhvi and Khushi released a joint statement which read as, “We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in MOM. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a super actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. Its time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on”. And then, in a media interaction, Boney Kapoor broke down talking about his late wife. When a journalist asked Boney that the film for which Sridevi won the award is called Mom, so, do Janhvi and Khushi miss their mom every day? To this Boney answered, “Of course, they miss their mom every day. I miss her every second too. But you cannot fight destiny and have to accept the reality”. Boney then broke down, and said, “I am trying my best to play the double role of being a father and both”.
And then Janhvi came out in the front and thanked the Indian Government for such an honour for her late mother. Speaking reverently of Sridevi, Janhvi said, “I think both of us (Khushi and I) would like to thank the jury for recognizing the hard work, perseverance and dedication that my mother has put into this role. It was very special to her and we are very happy that she is being appreciated for it”.
