However, for a Canada-based couple, what was meant to be a picture-perfect moment soon turned into a nightmare, when a colour bomb misfired during their wedding photoshoot in Bengaluru, leaving the bride with serious burn injuries.

A colour bomb misfires during 'epic' photoshoot

Vicky and Piya, an Indian-origin couple living in Canada, travelled to Bengaluru to tie the knot in a traditional ceremony. To make their union memorable and aesthetically pleasing, the couple wanted to have an ‘epic shot’ for their wedding album. They decided to use colourful smoke bombs as a backdrop during a photo shoot held between their wedding ceremony and reception. This was when things went horribly wrong.

While the groom, Vicky, picked Piya up, waiting to capture the perfect moment in a cloud of colour in the background, one of the smoke bombs misfired. It swerved off course and shot directly at the couple. In a video shared by the couple on Instagram, the groom is seen lifting his bride for a romantic photo when the device explodes dangerously close to them. They shared the video with a caption that read:

“The plan was to have these beautiful colour bombs go off in the background for an epic shot, but it malfunctioned and shot at us. We were also about to hold our baby with us.”

Meanwhile, the video included a caption suggesting that the mishap was due to the ‘evil eye’, a supernatural belief that a jealous or malevolent glare can bring misfortune or harm. The caption of the video read:

“Burned on my wedding day. A reminder that evil eye is real.”

Netizens react to the incident

The video shared by the couple has since taken social media to storm, and netizens are rushing to the comment section to express their views. While many expressed sympathy for the injured bride, others pointed out the dangers of using pyrotechnic devices without professional supervision. Some urged them to focus on safety measures rather than blame the ‘evil eye’. One user pointed out, "That's scary but also u r literally standing next to it." There were also comments like “Evil eye or irresponsible??” and “It’s not evil eye. Just lack of proper safety measures”.

The rising hazards of wedding props

This isn’t the first time a wedding celebration has gone wrong due to props like fireworks and other pyrotechnics. In November last year, a car caught fire in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after a man set off firecrackers through its sunroof during a baarat procession.
