It is a very common scenario in showbiz that once you embrace motherhood, you are considered to be less talented of an actress. Though currently, a lot of new mommies like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma had broken this stereotype and continued their work even after their pregnancy, there are still some actresses, who face the judgemental consequences after they become a mother. Television actress, Chahatt Khanna has been going through this phase ever since she became a mother!
Actress, Chahatt Khanna, who had become quite popular by working on television shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Qubool Hain, had proved her mettle in acting by entertaining the audiences through her roles. However, after embracing motherhood, the actress was seen missing from television for quite some time. The actress is fighting for her divorce and has two daughters, Zohar and Amaira, to raise all on her own.
Recently, Chahatt took to her Facebook account to state that she is not getting any work and people are judging her on the fact that she is a single mother to two kids. She wrote, "Motherhood is being misunderstood. I am a single mother and raising two kids with little help and even little money. They judge me that I might not be left with the same calibre that I once was."
She further stated that contrary to the general belief, a mother becomes more powerful when she is working for her kids. She penned, "Motherhood gets you to be 2x and sometimes more of what you can be because you are working for your kids and their future. The work offers has dried but I am not a lesser person or an actor. I am stronger, fitter and better in each aspect. Bring it on."
When The Times Of India reached out to her regarding the post, the actress shared that people asked her to avoid posting pictures with her kids because that might turn directors and producers away from offering her roles. She said, "When I post pictures with my daughters, people tell me that I should avoid doing that. They feel that it will not enthuse makers to approach me. However, I continue posting pictures with them because I believe that if I am a mother, I am not going to hide it."
When Chahatt was asked about the fact that there are many actresses in television, who are mothers in real life and yet they are continuing their career, she said, "Yes, television has many actresses who are mothers and essaying strong roles. But, somehow, I haven't received any offers yet. And films, web, regional films, south films - all have the same reason for not casting me."
