Chairman Of The Sahara Group, Subrata Roy Passes Away At 75 Due To Cardiorespiratory Arrest

On November 14, 2023, Subrata Roy breathed his last at the age of 75 years. He passed away due to cardiorespiratory arrest because of multiple health issues.

The Sahara Group faced a huge loss on November 14, 2023, as its chairman left for the heavenly abode after suffering from a decline in his health. Soon after his demise, the Sahara India Pariwar also released an official statement regarding the same and revealed the causes of Subrata's demise. As of now, no further details about his last rites have been known.

Chairman of Sahara Group, Subrata Roy passes away at 75

On November 14, 2023, Subrata Roy, the chairman of the Sahara Group, breathed his last at 10.30 pm in Mumbai. The 75 years old businessman was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute (KDAH) in Mumbai on November 12, 2023, after he suffered a decline in his health, as per a spokesperson from the Sahara group.

Soon after losing their Managing Worker and Chairman of the Sahara group, they released an official statement revealing the causes of Subrata Roy's demise. As per the company statement, Subrata passed away due to cardiorespiratory arrest. However, he was also battling multiple health issues, including metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes. The statement issued by the Sahara Group read as:

“It is with profound sadness that Sahara India Pariwar [group] informs the demise of our Hon’ble ‘Saharasri’ Subrata Roy Sahara. Saharasri ji an inspirational leader and visionary, passed away on 14th November 2023 at 10.30 pm due to cardiorespiratory arrest following an extended battle with complications arising from metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes.”

A brief look at Subrata Roy's professional front

According to multiple reports, Subrata Roy started off with a chit-fund business in the late 1970s. With immense hard work and dedication, he and his team prevailed over an empire that included Air Sahara, television channels, finance and many real estate projects. The Sahara group was also once considered the second largest employer in India after the Indian Railways.

Talking about Subrata Roy's monumental achievements over the years, he has also received many awards and accolades, including the Vishisht Rashtriya Udaan Samman in 2010, Vocational Award for Excellence in 2010 by Rotary International, Businessmen of the Year Award in 2002, the Best Industrialist Award in 2002, National Citizen Award in 2001, Karmaveer Samman in 1995, Udyam Shree in 1994, and the Baba-E-Rozgar Award in 1992. Moreover, in 2012, he was named among India's 10 most influential businessmen. However, he also had to spend some time in prison before being released on parole, when Air Sahara was sold off to Jet Airways and the Sahara had to face troubles with the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
