ISRO (Indian Space and Research Organisation) created history on July 14, 2023, after they successfully launched Chandrayaan-3. All the eyes were on the famous Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh and at 2.35 PM IST, India once again aimed to become only the fourth nation in the world to land on the moon. Nations like the United States, Russia and China have already achieved the feat. As soon as the Chandrayaan-3 was launched, the entire nation congratulated ISRO and all the people who were involved in this mission.
However, there was one special woman, who stole the limelight, as she was the one, who led the mission. Yes! We are talking about Dr Ritu Karidhal Srivastava, who is one of the senior scientists at ISRO (Indian Space and Research Organisation). Here’s all you need to know about the ‘Rocket Woman’ of India.

According to a report in the Women Economic Forum (WEF), Dr Ritu Karidhal Srivastava is a senior scientist at ISRO, who is one of the members, who take charge of most of the important decisions. Not only this, she also played a major role in the famous Mars Orbiter mission.
Right from an early age, Dr Ritu Karidhal Srivastava was a bright student. After completing her schooling, Ritu went to the prestigious Lucknow University in 1996, where she studied B. Sc. And M. Sc. in Physics. Ritu also has an MTech degree, which she attained from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
As per multiple reports, during her childhood days, Ritu Karidhal Srivastava used to cut out the news related to space and planets. From cutting news articles penned by ISRO and NASA, Ritu Karidhal also took part in space research activities during her school and college. It’ll be fair to say that Ritu aimed to make a career in space research organisation right from an early age.

As per a report of the Women Economic Forum (WEF), it was in November 1997 when Ritu Karidhal Srivastava joined ISRO (Indian Space and Research Organisation). The scientist works as an operations director. Ritu has been a part of a series of space missions. However, the way she led the mission, Chandrayaan-3, left everyone in awe of her.
Apart from being a scientist at ISRO, Dr Ritu Karidhal Srivastava has published more than 20 papers both in national and international publications. Although the exact names of the publications aren’t available on the internet, but Ritu is indeed followed by a series of space scientists across the world.
Talking about Dr Ritu Karidhal Srivastava’s personal life, she is married to a person named Avinash Srivastava. Together they have two kids, Aditya Srivastava and Anisha Srivastava. Despite being married and having kids, Ritu Karidhal has inspired everyone to keep following their dreams even after getting married.
