Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen opened up about their split and shared the reasons behind the same while putting blame on each other.
Television actress, Charu Asopa had tied the knot with Sushmita Sen’s brother, model turned actor, Rajeev Sen on June 7, 2019, in Goa as per Bengali and Rajasthani rituals. After two years of their marriage, the couple has embraced parenthood and had welcomed a baby girl, whom they have named Ziana.
However, since their marriage, Charu and Rajeev have been hitting the headlines for their constant tiffs. Every now and then, there are rumours about the couple heading for a split. Till now, none of them had addressed the speculations, but, now both Charu and Rajeev opened up about their troubled marriage and hurled a number of accusations at each other.

In an interview with the Times of India, Charu talked about her decision to separate from Rajeev and shared that she sent him a legal notice to him on June 7, 2022, to part their ways amicably. However, the actress received a notice from him, in which he had levelled a lot of allegations against her. Speaking about the same, Charu said:
“I didn’t want to talk about the problems in our marriage, but I have been forced to talk about it now because Rajeev is spreading lies about me, which is damaging to my reputation. Yes, we have taken the legal route to end the marriage and I initiated the process.”
In the same interview, Charu stated how the couple had problems since the beginning and she had always given him a chance and reconciled. Talking about the same, Charu mentioned that she had earlier patched up with Rajeev for herself and later did it for the sake of their daughter, Ziana. Revealing the reason for their separation, Charu said that Rajeev has trust issues and she did not want her daughter to grow up in a toxic environment.

Charu also talked about Rajeev’s allegation about not knowing about her first marriage and how he also thinks that she is not capable of being a good mother to Ziana. In her words:
“He is claiming that he didn’t know about my first marriage! Not only did he know about it, but also appreciated me for moving on from my past and making it on my own in Mumbai. My first marriage happened in February 2007 when I was just 18 and we separated in November 2016 owing to compatibility issues. Rajeev has accused me of being a bad mother as he doesn’t appreciate me posting Ziana’s pictures on social media. He says nazar lag jaati hai. I am not superstitious like him and don’t want my daughter to be exposed to such a mindset.”
In Rajeev’s defence, the actor revealed that lack of trust, ego and constant fights are the reasons for their split. Stating that he didn’t know about Charu’s first marriage, Rajeev said:
“Practically no one barring those from her hometown, Bikaner (Rajasthan), knew about her first marriage. It was a secret kept hidden from us. So, this came as a shock to me, and it shook me up badly… three years of marriage and I had no clue. I understand it was her past, but she should have at least told me. I would have accepted it with respect if she would have told me about it before getting married.”
On the work front, Charu was last seen in the show, Kyu Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye and Rajeev will be making his Bollywood debut soon!
