"I was taking a walk with my friends. I got a text from my doctor asking: 'Can I see you tomorrow at 4 pm?' I excused myself from the walk and called the doctor immediately. I asked him: 'Do I have cancer?'. He didn't say 'yes' and simply said 'we'll fix the problem and I should not worry'. I reached home and told Mohit that the biopsy report has come but it is not good. Mohit took it emotionally but he was strong. My mother took a day to react. She first just listened and called me the next day and started crying."

In the same interview, Chhavi was asked about the moment when she had told her 3-year-old son, Arham about her cancer. To which, the actress had shared that he is too small and doesn't understand the concept, so she had told him that she had hurt herself while running. She added:

"He is too small, he is just 3. I told him that I have hurt my right side and he should be careful when he hugs me. He keeps asking me which is the left side before hugging now. He asked me to show him the scars and I did. He keeps asking me how I got hurt, though. He's made up a story that I got hurt while running and I go with his story. Sometimes if his hand touches me on the right side and I scream in pain, he gets scared. If he sees me sad, he feels sad. If he sees me happy, he feels happy."

When Chhavi was quizzed about how did she tell her 9-year-old daughter, Areeza about her breast cancer, she shared that she had asked her daughter to stay positive as her nani would be there by her side. Chhavi also revealed that Areeza knows about cancer as the actress had lost her nani to esophageal cancer and added that when she had realised that Chhavi was also suffering from cancer, the little one had started crying. She shared:

"I sat her down and told her that I am very unwell. She looked at me quizzically and wanted to know what it was. I told her it's a problem and I am going to fix it. I added that if I am not here for a few days, then she should not worry as Nani would be coming down and staying with her. She knows about cancer as I had lost my Nani to esophageal cancer. She turned around and said, 'Mummy, is it that?' I said, 'Yes'. And, she started crying."

The doting mommy further revealed how she had managed to convince her daughter that she is going to be fine after the surgery. Chhavi also shared that Areeza had wanted to be there by her side in the hospital, but she had asked her to stay at home. Adding that she didn't want her baby girl to see her like that, Chhavi revealed that she had no energy to get up and even go to the washroom after her surgery. She concluded:

"I picked her in my lap and explained to her that unlike in Nani's case, I am not old and I shall recover. I told her I would be hospitalized but I would be back in the gym soon. She said she would like to stay in the hospital like my mom and husband had parked themselves. She wanted to look after me. But I explained to her that I didn't want her to see me like that; initially I couldn't get up and I was getting irritable, it was a struggle for me to even go to the washroom. She understood and she would come for only a while and hold my hand."
