Mumbai has been in festive spirits for the past few days with the arrival of the popular British band, Coldplay. After kick-staring their India tour on January 18, 2025, the band won hearts once again at their second concert on January 19. This time, the band’s frontman, Chris Martin did something that left the crowd in a collective meltdown — in addition to speaking in Hindi, Chris gave a huge shoutout to none other than Bollywood’s Badshah and global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan!

Chris Martin shouts ‘Shah Rukh Khan Forever’ on Day 2 of his Mumbai concert

Coldplay’s second Mumbai concert on January 19, 2025, turned into a magical evening when Chris Martin, the band’s frontman, gave an unforgettable shoutout to Bollywood’s King Khan, aka Shah Rukh Khan. In a now-viral clip, as the band performed at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, Chris Martin paused briefly before launching into a song. He declared:

“Shah Rukh Khan forever.”

This gesture was enough to send the crowd into a frenzy. The moment became extra special when thousands of fans flashed their phone lights that looked like stars, their cheers echoing across the stadium, making it a fitting tribute to the superstar.

Shah Rukh Khan responds to Coldplay’s tribute

The video of Chris Martin’s shoutout to Shah Rukh Khan went viral, delighting fans with the unexpected Bollywood crossover. SRK shared the video and expressed his gratitude on X and Instagram, quoting Coldplay’s iconic song, Yellow. His post read:

“Look at the stars…look how they shine for you….and everything you do! My brother Chris Martin you make me feel special….like your songs!! Love you and a big hug to your team. You are one in a billion my friend. India loves u, @coldplay !!!”

Social media exploded with the legendary crossover of Coldplay and SRK

Coldplay has a crazy fan following all over the world, and India is no different. While millions of fans were left disheartened for not getting tickets to the legendary concert, it’s safe to say that Chris is mending their hearts bit by bit. After his shoutout to Shah Rukh Khan, netizens cannot stop gushing at the iconic crossover. One user commented on SRK’s post on X, saying, “Shah Rukh Khan quoting Coldplay? Coldplay won hearts on days 1 and 2 of their India tour

This isn’t the first time Chris Martin has shown his love for India and Bollywood. At the same concert, he charmed the audience by speaking in Hindi. Welcoming the crowd, he said:

“Aap sabka bohot swagat hai. Mumbai mein aakar humein bohot khushi ho rahi hai. We are so happy to be here.”

On Day 1 of Coldplay's India tour, Chris won hearts by trying to speak Hindi, and at one point, the whole stadium cheered when he chanted ‘Jai Shree Ram’. The band has another performance at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 21, 2025, before heading to Ahmedabad.
