'Bigg Boss 18' premiered on October 6, 2024, but contestants are already at war. In a promo for the upcoming episode, Chum Darang lashed out at Shezada Dhami for a racist remark he made towards her.
Bigg Boss 18, which is hosted by Salman Khan, kicked off for its latest season less than twenty-four hours ago. However, contestants seem to be at each other’s throats already, promising for a truly masaledaar season. A promo for the upcoming episode revealed that actress, Chum Darang and TV actor, Shehzada Dhami were among the first contestants to have a spat.
The fight between Chum and Shehzada was sparked when the latter made an off-handed remark suggesting Chum wasn’t Indian. In the promo, Shehzada was seen saying, “Mirchi lag rahi hai” while eating something. Chum then asked him if it was the chutney that was bothering him, to which Shehzada promptly replied:
“Tumhare udhar ki hai na.”
The careless comment didn’t go unnoticed by Chum, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh. Chum immediately lashed out at Shehzada, saying:
“Tumhare udhar ki hai matlab? I’m Indian, I’m offended.”
An all-out argument then seemed to break out with Shehzada accusing Chum of abusing him while the latter denied it. Shehzada could also be seen yelling at Chum that she was playing the sympathy card.

Fans, however, took to the comments with an outpouring of support for the actress-cum-model, pointing out that this wasn’t the first rude remark Shehzada had made about her. They called out Shehzada’s behaviour in the first episode, where he was seen making fun of Chum’s name and comparing her to Nepalis.
For the unversed, Chum Darang has been seen in hits like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Badhaai Do. Prior to making her entrance into the house, Chum spoke to Indo-Asian News Service about her hopes for her Bigg Boss 18 journey. Chum stated that her deepest desire was for the platform to be able to give the audience a better understanding of her and Arunachal Pradesh. In her words:
“Bigg Boss is a show which people watch. It's a massive, massive show. I thought, if they'll watch me in the show, they'll be curious to know more about me and my motive was for people to understand that there is a very beautiful place called Arunachal Pradesh in the east, where the sun rises first in India. I wanted them to know that. So that was my motive. For people to know more about me and my home state.”
Chum and Shehzada are far from the only contestants to already have friction. Fitness influencer, Rajat Dalal, who is widely known for his online spats, also got into a heated debate with controversial politician, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga. The hot-tempered YouTuber even went so far as to issue Tajinder a threat, saying:
“Hisab se baat karo warna bhoot bana dunga.”
