Chunky Panday Shares Shatrughan Sinha Taught Him To Never Be Punctual, 'No One Will Value...'

Chunky Panday remembered the golden advice that was given to him by actor, politician, Shatrughan Sinha that changed his life.

Bollywood actor, Chunky Panday has been a complete outsider in the industry. His father, Sharad Panday, was a heart surgeon, just like his mom, Snehlata. Chunky managed to carve a niche for himself in the movie industry and the sojourn was not easy. Chunky had shared an important piece of advice that was given to him by actor, Shatrughan Sinha. It was related to punctuality and the actor noted that to date he followed the advice that was given to him.

Chunky Panday remembered the advice given to him by Shatrughan Sinha

Chunky, in an interview with Radio Nasha, revealed that 'Shatru ji' told him something very nice, which he followed to date. It was related to how Shatrughan felt that actors should never be punctual on the sets as that way, the value of the star reduced. Chunky shared:

"Shatru ji told me something very nice, which I follow to date. He said, ‘Son, whatever you do, never arrive on time anywhere. If you are punctual, no one will value you. Even if you happen to be early somehow, stay in the car for 15 minutes or so. Make people wait."

Chunky shared that initially, there was the old school method of people waiting for the star to come, and once the star came, the matter closed over there. Chunky had also revealed that Shatrughan was a good friend of his dad, Sharad. The actor made his Bollywood debut in the multi-starrer movie, Aag Hi Aag back in 1987. The film had Dharmendra, Moushumi Chatterjee and Shatrughan Sinha in pivotal roles. Chunky was paired opposite, Neelam in the movie.

Chunky Panday credits Shatrughan Sinha for teaching him dialogue lines

Chunky, going ahead in the interview, credited Shatrughan for teaching him the art of memorising lines. He said that even if Shatru ji had 10 pages of dialogues, he would go straight for takes without rehearsing, after reading them just once. Chunky, in the interview, even could not stop praising Dharmendra's dashing looks and said that he had learnt a lot of body language from the veteran actor.

When Chunky Pandey revealed how his career faded?

During an interview with the Curly Tales, Chunky revealed that he made his Bollywood debut in 1987, which was a year after Govinda made his debut in Love 86. He remembered how his stardom faded. In his words:

"In 1988, 89, and 90, we had Aamir, Salman, and Shah Rukh making their debuts. In subsequent years, we also had Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar starting. So, my honeymoon phase lasted just one year.”

Why Chunky Panday relaunch his career?

The actor did do multi-starrer movies, but he then decided to relaunch his career in the film industry; this was because the majority of his movies did not work. This was because a small boy came and asked if he was a hero at a wedding he had attended. Chunky recollected:

"I told him to ask his mother about me. But then I realised I had to win that kid’s heart with my films. I wanted to appeal to children. That is why I did films like Housefull."
