Daler Mehndi is not pleased with Diljit Dosanjh sacrificing his turban and chopping off his hair to play the lead role of 'Amar Singh Chamkila.'
Diljit Dosanjh, a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, has been winning the hearts of his fans with his Dil-Luminati tour. His recent movie, Amar Singh Chamkila, was a hit, and now, his tour is receiving a positive response worldwide. People love his fun personality and are going gaga over him. However, with fame comes criticism, and now, Daler Mehndi has voiced his dismay over his antics.
Diljit Dosanjh's film, Amar Singh Chamkila was a massive success, and people loved his acting. They even praised Parineeti Chopra and Imtiaz Ali for their contribution to the cinematic wonder. However, Daler Mehndi is not too happy with Diljit Dosanjh for playing the lead role in the film. In an interview with The Lallantop, Daler said:
"I don’t understand. He keeps saying that he will never remove his pagdi, he presents himself as a devotee… But I don’t understand why he cut his hair for the Chamkila movie. I don’t think he should’ve done it. I have a big movie coming up myself, and I’m keeping my pagdi.”
Daler Mehndi called out Diljit Dosanjh for preaching devotion and calling himself devoted to God. Then how could he chop off his hair and remove his pagdi. For the unversed, Sikh Punjabi consider their pagdi sacred and seldom chop off their hair due to religious beliefs.
In a past interview with Radio Nasha, Imtiaz Ali clarified that Diljit wore a wig and didn’t actually cut his hair for the role. He said that he would not reveal personal details, but Diljit did not chop his hair or even sacrifice a single strand of hair. During the film's shooting, Diljit wore a wig that managed to look like 'Chamkila'. In Imtiaz's words:
“I would not want to share his personal details, but yes, Diljit has worn a wig. That wig is like his turban only. He has not sacrificed a single hair for this film. Because he played a character and he knew how Chamkila looked, so he managed to look the part with a wig. He donned the look very sincerely and with very good intentions.”
Diljit Dosanjh can safely be hailed as the 'King Of Hearts', and now and then, he proves the same. Earlier, ahead of his Kolkata show, one of his fans asked him to arrange for two tickets, as he couldn't get any due to the demand. Well, the singer, being a sweetheart, responded to his fan with a 'Done' message, which meant he would try to arrange two tickets for the fan.
