David Johnson, Former Indian Cricketer, Dies After Falling From Fourth Floor Of His Balcony

Famous Indian pacer David Johnson passed away in a shocking turn of events after he fell from his home's balcony.

Former Indian cricketer, David Jude Johnson passed away on June 20, 2024. The 52-year-old had a terrible fall from the balcony of his fourth-floor apartment in Kothanur in Bangalore. The news has sent shockwaves all over the nation. The former Indian pacer is survived by his wife, and two children. For the unversed, David had been running a cricket academy near his home. People are mourning the loss of a gem of a person, who had been changing lives with his love for the game.

David Johnson died after falling from the balcony of his home

According to a report by the PTI, the Karnataka State Cricket Association revealed that they were informed about David's death and how he had fallen from the fourth floor of his apartment at 10:30 in the morning. He was soon rushed to the hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. According to reports, David had also joined a de-addiction centre in the city for alcohol-related problems.

Former India Test captain, Anil Kumble expressed his shock on his social media handle, X. He sent his heartfelt condolences to his family, and penned how he left 'too soon'. He wrote:

"Saddened to hear the passing of my cricketing colleague David Johnson. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Gone too soon "Benny"!"

After the news came out, cricket writer, Joseph Hoover, who shares a close bond with David Johsnon's family had written to the Karnataka State Cricket Association to financially support the family. And the vice president, BK Sampath Kumar has assured the family of providing them with all the help.

Joseph also revealed that David was hospitalised last week, and came back home three days ago. However, David's wife revealed that the former cricketer told her someone was coming at the windows and calling for him. So, they had covered the windows with bedsheets. He said:

David Johnson is a celebrated name in Indian cricket history. He made his cricket debut in 1996 against Australia. We wish his family strength.
