Sharad Kelkar Reveals Deepika Padukone's Dedication In 'Ram-Leela', Says 'She Was Dancing Barefoot'

Sharad Kelkar reveals Deepika Padukone danced for 11 days with an injury

Sharad Kelkar played a negative role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. The filmmaker, who is known for perfection, pays close attention to detail. Sharad revealed that Deepika Padukone, who played the female protagonist in the film, had to shoot a dance sequence despite being injured. Sharing the deets from the incident, Sharad said:

“Deepika was dancing barefoot with full bruises on her feet. Full tape bandh k usne 11 din shoot kiya pain me.”

Sharad shared that Deepika helped him shoot for a dance scene after his knee surgery

Sharad Kelkar had a garba dance sequence in the Ram-Leela. However, the actor had undergone knee surgery before. As a result, he found it difficult to get the steps right. At that time, Deepika Padukone stayed back and helped him learn and perform the steps. Recalling the helpful gesture by Deepika, Sharad was quoted saying:

“I had a knee surgery at that time and we were shooting for the song - Lahu muh lag gaya. I had to do the Garba while sitting. My physio told me, ‘You can’t sit because you just had a surgery, you can't bend below 90 degrees.' I was unable to do it. Because of pain due to surgery, I couldn't do it. But I remember when I went blank and couldn't remember the steps for the song. It was lunchtime, and Deepika stayed back, and she taught me. She said, ‘You can do it. I’ll teach you.' Somehow I managed to do it and she was damn sweet.'”

Sharad Kelkar is keen on exploring different kinds of roles

Apart from acting, Sharad Kelkar has had a successful run as a voice-over artist and has become the voice for some of the most renowned characters. He is mainly known to be the voice of Prabhas's character in the Baahubali series. In another interaction, the actor shared how he balances between the two roles. He said:

"I dub well but that doesn't mean that I'll do a certain type of role that requires a good voice. I am an actor first, I can perform and when it comes to my voice I can take it to any dimension. But, fortunately, in the last two years a lot of people have shown trust in me. I try to do different kinds of roles so that I am not stuck being typecast. I am waiting for the good times, the best to come.”

Sharad made his Bollywood debut with the film, Hulchul. However, he gained popularity through his roles in movies like Baadshaaho, Tanhaji, and Laxmii. Recently, the actor was seen in Rajkummar Rao's Srikanth. Next, he shall feature in the aerial action-thriller, Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar, Nimrit Kaur, and Sara Ali Khan.
