Prakash Padukone is one of the most celebrated and popular badminton players in the history of India. The badminton player was ranked No.1 during his playing days in 1980 and the same year, he had become the first player to win the All England Open Badminton Championships. Well, accolades don’t stop here as he was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1972 and Padma Shri in the year 1982. But above all, he is a great human being and a crystal clear example of that, is his daughter and actress, Deepika Padukone. Now, recently on the anniversary of Prakash Padukone’s one of the most historic wins of his long career, his daughter and son-in-law have shared heartfelt posts on their respective social media handles.
On March 23, 2020, Deepika Padukone took to her Twitter handle and has posted a heartfelt message for her father, Prakash Padukone. The occasion was a historic one for every Indian as Prakash Padukone was the first Indian badminton player ever to win the All England Open Badminton Championships in 1980 (40 years ago). The actress wrote a big message for her father, that can be read as “Pappa, Your contribution to Badminton and Indian Sport is immeasurable! Thank You for your inspiring display of dedication, discipline, determination and years of hard work! They don’t make you like you anymore... We love you and are proud of you! On the other side, Deepika’s doting husband, Ranveer Singh proves that he’s a true gentleman as he posted a set of some throwback pictures on his Instagram handle on March 23, 2020. In the pictures, we can see Prakash Padukone lifting the trophy as he returns to India after winning the prestigious trophy in London. The dearest son-in-law, Ranveer Singh also wrote a long caption for his father-in-law, Prakash Padukone along with the pictures, that can be read as “40 years ago on this day, #PrakashPadukone changed the fate of Badminton forever. He won the All England Championship in London’s Wembley Arena, creating history for Indian sports. No wonder, Prakash Padukone is lucky to have a daughter and son-in-law like Deepika and Ranveer, who hold this much respect and love for him. In an interview with the Filmfare Magazine, Deepika Padukone had talked about the importance of her father in her life. Last year, in an interview with the Filmfare Magazine, Deepika couldn’t stop praising her daddy dear. She had shared, “His radiance reflects in his personality. Since my team stays in touch with dad regarding my work, they always talk about him and say, ‘How cute is your father!” He is such a humble person and there is so much goodness in him that it all radiates. I don’t think my sister, Anisha and I could have asked for a better role model than him.”
Before her wedding, in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai on his show, India Today India Tomorrow, Deepika had talked about her inspiration towards a happy marriage. She had revealed, “I've seen my parents do it so well and so successfully and I think for me, that's the way I would like my married life to be as well. My parents have a beautiful relationship. The way they have managed their professional life as well as being together as a family. They have set such amazing benchmarks that both I and my sister (Anisha Padukone) would like to follow." Seeing both Deepika and Ranveer together at the moment, it looks like the wish of the beautiful actress has been fulfilled by the almighty in the best way possible.
