Deepika and Ranveer are hosting their wedding reception on November 21, 2018 in former’s hometown and given their history, we expected the newlyweds will keep their reception look as a surprise for their fans. But to our surprise, Deepika and Ranveer, before going to the venue, shared a vintage-style portrait on their official social media handles and their fans can’t stop fawning at their style.
For the Bangalore reception, Ranveer opted for a black-golden coloured bandhgala, which is designed by Rohit Bal. And Deepika wore a shiny golden silk saree, which is a gift from her mother, Ujjala Padukone. She accentuated her new bride look with traditional jewellery that added a pop of subtle green to her otherwise toned down look. She wore her hair in a bun adorned with flowers. Her not-so-ek-chutki-sindoor is the highlight of her entire look.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee shared a picture of the couple, and revealed that Deepika wore a saree gifted by her mother, Ujjala Padukone. His caption could be read as, “Deepika Padukone @deepikapadukone, styled by Sabyasachi for her wedding reception in Bengaluru. On November 21, 2018, Sabyasachi took to his social media handle and revealed that Deepika’s saree for her Konkani wedding was also a gift from her mother and was given to him by Ujjala Padukone for more work. Giving the credit from where the saree was initially bought, Sabyasachi shared a picture and captioned it, “Thank you Shefalee Vasudev @shefatwork @thevofashion for aligning the information. #Sabyasachi #TheWorldOfSabyasachi” (Also Read: Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh's Hilarious Wedding Memes Are Taking Social Media By Storm)
The information about the saree could be read as, “A NOTIFICATION – As per Konkani tradition, the bride’s saree is gifted to her by the mother for her wedding. Deepika’s wedding saree was given to us by her mother – Mrs Ujjala Padukone. We have just received information that the saree was bought from Angadi Galleria, Bengaluru and we would like to give them due credit for the same.”
Revealing the details about Deepika’s sarees, Shefalee Vasudev, the Editor of The Voice Of Fashion, wrote on her social media handle, “"Deepika Padukone's Kanjeevaram red gold wedding sari worn by her for the Mangalorean wedding ceremony with a Sabyasachi veil and jewellery was an Advaya sari from the House of Angadi, Bangalore" says Radharaman K, the store founder in an email to @thevofashion. As per tradition, the bride wears a sari given by the mother and the red gold sari is a real zari Kanjeevaram. "The body design is the Gandaberunda (two headed bird) the mythological figure that is also represented as the coat of arms of the Mysore Maharaja and subsequently Karnataka," adds Radharaman.”
Her note could be further read as, “He added that the veil was not theirs and the sari had been duly purchased from their store by Deepika herself along with another sari and there was no commercial or personal arrangement behind it. When I brought it to the notice of @sabyasachiofficial with Radharaman's permission, the designer instantly responded that it was indeed given by the bride's mother to them. They trimmed and styled it. @sabyasachiofficial also added with grace and clarity about credit where due that while the sari's details were not known earlier, once the store name has been brought to their notice and after it is verified, it must be rightfully credited.”
A Mumbai-based styling services, Bridelan India also shared two Instagram stories in which they gave a clear glimpse of both the sarees of Deepika Padukone including her Konkani wedding one and the one that she wore on her Bangalore reception, that she bought from the store in her hometown. Before their wedding, amidst many speculations, a source had revealed to a media house the details of DeepVeer's Bangalore reception and stated, "The biggest reason why Deepika chose to have the reception at the Leela, Bangalore was renowned Italian restaurant of New York, Le Cirque which goes by the name Le Cirque Signature. DP loves the restaurant in NYC and their franchise in Bengaluru drew Deepika to The Leela. Her mother has also gone food tasting 2-3 times. The food will be pre-dominantly South Indian though. They will check into the hotel on 20th and check out on 22nd."
On October 21, 2018, Deepika and Ranveer had confirmed their wedding by releasing a statement which could be read as, "With the blessings of our families, it gives us immense joy in sharing that our wedding is set to take place on the 14th and 15th of November 2018. We thank you for all the love you have showered upon us over the years and seek your blessings as we embark on this incredible journey of love, loyalty, friendship and togetherness.
