The much-anticipated 'Singham Again' trailer dropped on October 7, 2024, and one aspect of the film is being heavily trolled by netizens. That aspect is Deepika Padukone's performance.
The trailer for the much-anticipated Singham Again, starring the likes of Ajay Dvegn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone, among others, dropped today, on October 8, 2024. So far, the trailer has been receiving mixed to positive reviews. However, in an unexpected twist, netizens were focused more on Deepika than anyone else in the cast, and not in a good way.
Deepika Padukone will be gracing the silver screen as ‘Shakti Shetty’ in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. However, fans who were eagerly anticipating her performance, came away disappointed from the trailer.
Many experienced deja vu as they were taken back to Deepika's performance as ‘Meenamma’ in Chennai Express, which was also directed by Rohit Shetty. According to fans, Deepika is underwhelming in the role because of her over-the-top acting, fake accent, and unnatural expressions.
One commenter on X said, “Sad for Deepika. I think even she can’t save this time, but if she did, she is the Goddess of all time.” Another user wrote, “Husband and wife scammed a honeymoon trip out of Scorpio Shetty.” One more comment could be read as, “Never thought after seeing Arjun Kapoor and Tiger in the cast, someone could act worse than them. But congratulations Deepika.”
Despite fans dubbing Deepika’s performance as not-so-stellar, Singham Again has managed to smash records nonetheless. The film’s trailer has become the most-watched Hindi film trailer in 24 hours, garnering a jaw-dropping 138 million views across platforms.
The trailer was even trending #1 across social media, including YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. However, fans did have a complaint with its length. The trailer stands at nearly 5 minutes, which according to fans, is far too long and gives away a lot of the movie. Some have even been cracking jokes about it in the Youtube comments. One user said, “Ye to sirf picture hai…Trailer abhi baki hai mere dost.”
While fan opinions about the trailer vary across the board, B-town celebs have nothing but love for the Singham Again trailer. Bhumi Pednekar, Mrunal Thakur, Alia Bhatt, and Varun Dhawan are only some of the many stars to praise the film and cast.
Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram to share the Singham Again trailer on his story with the caption, “ALA RE ALAAA... What a tod fod Visfotak trailer.” His wife, Katrina Kaif seemingly shared his excitement as she, too, re-shared the trailer and wrote, “Outstandinggg.... looking spectacular.”
Meanwhile, Jahnvi Kapoor had some special praises for her brother, Arjun Kapoor, who takes up the role of the film’s menacing villain. Gushing about his Ravan-like character, Jahnvi reshared the trailer on her Instagram, and penned:
“@arjunkapoor what is this madnesss!!!!! We are hyped. We are seated. We cannot wait.”
