Tamil superstar, Dhanush might be joining forces with 'Euphoria' star, Sydney Sweeney for an upcoming Hollywood project.
Indian cinema is once again going to see a crossover with Hollywood as Tamil superstar, Dhanush is alleged to soon team up with American Gen Z fame, Sydney Sweeney. Dhanush, who earlier starred in Hollywood’s The Gray Man, might be joining forces with Euphoria star, Sydney Sweeney for his next high-octane project outside Indian cinema.
If reports are to be believed, Dhanush and Sydney could be the stars of a big-budget action flick by Sony Pictures, named Street Fighter. The movie, based on the popular video game franchise, is set to hit theatres on March 20, 2026. And if all goes as planned, this movie will compete with Ryan Gosling’s upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, at the box office. However, there is no official announcement about the project by the makers.
As we await the official announcement in its due time, Street Fighter will mark Dhanush's third venture into a Hollywood production. The last English-language film that Dhanush starred in was Ken Scott’s adventure comedy, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. In the film, Dhanush played the lead role of ‘Ajatashatru Lavash Patel’ or ‘Aja’, alongside Erin Moriarty, famous for her portrayal of ‘Starlight’ in The Boys.
The 27-year-old actress, Sydney Sweeny has become a breakout star among Gen Z Hollywood fans after her work in Euphoria and later, The White Lotus. The actress is currently juggling multiple projects, including the biopic of boxer Christy Martin and Echo Valley with Julianne Moore. So, while the Street Fighter news is exciting, it’s a matter of wait and see if Sydney can squeeze this new role into her already-packed schedule.
Meanwhile, Dhanush has a lineup of high-profile projects ahead. After completing his 50th film, Raayan, Dhanush is gearing up for his next release, Kubera, starring Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. The actor is also reported to be working on his next directorial venture, Idly Kadai.
Despite the lack of official confirmation from Sony Pictures or the stars themselves, many are anticipating the onscreen chemistry between Dhanush and Sydney. The film’s announcement is expected soon, and with both actors involved in their respective high-profile projects, Street Fighter could be the next big blockbuster to keep an eye on.
While Dhanush has a busy new year ahead, he has stirred quite the controversy in his personal life with his legal feuds. It seems that Dhanush does not want to leave the court premises just yet. Recently, he got his divorce from Aishwarya Rajinikanth finalised after 2 years of legal procedures. Now, he’s in the middle of a controversial feud with Tamil actress, Nayanthara.
Dhanush filed a civil suit against Nayanthara for using ‘unauthorised footage’ from his film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. This has stirred quite a bit of controversy in the industry, with many of Nayanthara’s co-stars supporting her, and calling out Dhanush for his actions.
