Dharma's creative head, Somen Mishra lashes out at '12th Fail' director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra for not crediting writers and editors and asks him to learn from his boss, Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty.
Dharma’s creative head, Somen Mishra, has often garnered headlines for his unfiltered and honest opinions. The producer often takes to the micro-blogging site, X (former Twitter) and Instagram to share his take on the recent developments in the industry. Recently, Somen has taken it upon himself to school all the filmmakers who do not credit the writers and the other crew members for the work, and his first target is none other than the 12th Fail director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
12th Fail is one of the most successful movies of recent times. The film is based on real-life characters and beautifully depicts the struggle of an aspiring UPSC candidate and how he surpasses all his struggles and achieves success. Talking about the movie, Somen first praised it for its inspiring storyline and credited the entire cast and crew for creating such a masterpiece but later took a sly dig at Vidhu Vinod Chopra for not giving due credit to its writers and editor. Somen further added:
"As much as we all are praising the film+VVC, I hope he realises he is too chindi with credits, especially writing and editing. Need to stop hogging all credits. Has done in the past too. Acchi film banayee, director hai, that's enough. You become bigger by giving the right credits."

Rohit Shetty recently held a press conference to promote his upcoming series, Indian Police Force, wherein he gave the entire credit of the series to its writers and other crew members. Sharing the video clip, Somen Mishra taunted Vidhu Vinod Chopra and asked him to learn something from Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar. He further added:
“Be like Rohit Shetty. Be like my boss, KJ. Always acknowledge your writers. Stop hogging all credits. Some directors have a terrible habit of forgetting their writers. Don't be a d--k. A film which released on ott recently and is getting lot of love, nobody knows who has written it or the book on which it is based. Because the director remembers only him doing everything in all his interviews."
12th Fail was released in theatres on October 27, 2023, and received a good response from the viewers. However, its box office collection wasn't that great as it clashed with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. The movie garnered much appreciation after its OTT release, after which its box office collection increased by manifold. The film has now earned over 70 crores worldwide.
