Anil Sharma, in a recent interview, shared anecdotes from his time with the Deol men during the shoot of 'Apne'.
Filmmaker, Anil Sharma recently sat with Siddharth Kannan for a candid conversation. He shared stories from his time with different celebrities and his experience as a director in Bollywood. The director is known for his iconic films, including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Apne, and his most recent release, the family drama film, Vanvaas featuring Nana Patekar.
Dharmendra has shared the big screen with his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, in several films, including the family favourites, Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana. In a recent interview, the infamous Gadar director, Anil Sharma, who has worked with the legendary actor and 'He-man' of Bollywood, Dharmendra, on numerous occasions in the 1980s, recalled an anecdote from the shoot of the film, Apne. Anil shared that during the shoot, the veteran actor would pull his sons' legs, making them awkward with his jokes. He shared that, at times, Dharmendra's jabs would make Sunny and Bobby run away.
In the same conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Anil reflected on a funny incident. He shared that once, Dharmendra was sitting with him, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in the vanity van when he suddenly told Anil that his sons were very innocent. He added that Dharmendra didn't realise that Sunny and Bobby were also sitting there, and the actor told him that his sons don't get any big heroines. Back in the day, all the heroines were crazy for him. Anil was quoted as:
"Dharam ji, Sunny, Bobby and me were all sitting together in the vanity van. Dharam ji says 'Mere ladke bade seedhe hain.' He didn’t realise both his sons were sitting there. 'Inka yaar, kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi. Inko koi badi herone milti nahi hai kabhi dono ko. Aur mere time ko dekho, sab heroines peeche aati rehti thi. Sab padi rehhti thi peeche.'"
In the same conversation, Anil Sharma laughed and shared that as soon as Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol heard their father's comment, they quietly made their way out of the vanity van. He added that seeing this, Dharmendra also started laughing and once again said that his sons are very innocent. He stated:
"Dharam ji laughed and said 'Inko samajh nahi aata. Bade seedhe hain ladke.' Phir unhoney bola, 'Main bhi bada seedha hu.' Haske bolne lage."
Anil Sharma also shared about the veteran actor, Dharmendra’s charming personality. He shared that the actor was so magnetic that every actress wanted to work with him. He also shared some insights on Dharmendra's sons' personalities. He revealed that while Sunny was shy and simple, Bobby had a starry attitude; however, he still chose to be a family man. The filmmaker has also hinted that he would be making Apne 2 with the Deol men and is expected to bring the threequel to the Indo-Pak romance, Gadar 3 with Sunny Deol.
