Dharmendra's first wife, Prakash Kaur, is a simple lady. In a rare interview, she had talked about her 'sautan' Hema Malini and how any man would have done what Dharmendra did.
Dharmendra's love saga with Bollywood's dream girl, Hema Malini, is known to all, but seldom do people know about his first wife, Prakash Kaur, whom he married at the young age of nineteen. However, in the '70s, when Dharmendra chose to marry Hema Malini, many people didn't approve of his behaviour and even called him names like 'womaniser'. Years later, in a rare interview with a film magazine, Prakash Kaur showed how big her heart was as she had not only defended her husband, Dharmendra but also praised her sautan, Hema Malini's beauty.
In a rare interview with the film magazine, Stardust, Prakash Kaur talked about the ordeal she has gone through in her personal life . At first, she refused to speak to the media, and she clearly stated that 'her English is not good'. The lady, who preferred staying away from paps and media, called herself an ordinary housewife and added that she loves her home and children. She had said:
"I am a housewife. I love my home and children. I don't care what anyone has to say about me or the way I live. Everyone has their own lifestyle. I have mine, you have yours, so why point fingers?"

She had even defended Dharmendra and asked why people are calling him womaniser while half of the industry is doing the same. She had said:
"Why only my husband, any man would have preferred Hema over me. How dare anyone can call my husband a womaniser when half the industry is doing the same thing? All the heroes are having affairs and getting married for the second time."
Hema Malini once in her biography revealed that she never met Dharmendra's first wife. She added that she didn't want to disturb anyone and was grateful for whatever Dharmendra did for her and their daughters. The actress stated that today she is a working woman and has her dignity as she has devoted her life to art and culture.
