In an interview, Dia Mirza opened up about experiencing 'separation anxiety' while leaving her son, Avyaan at home, when she went to shoot her upcoming pandemic drama film, 'Bheed'.
Bollywood actress, Dia Mirza is all set to make a comeback with the upcoming pandemic drama film, Bheed, which will hit the theatres on March 24, 2023. This is going to be Dia's first project, post-embracing motherhood. However, in an interview, Dia talked about 'separation anxiety', which she had felt for being away from her six-month-old baby boy, Avyaan due to her shooting requirements. For the unversed, Dia tied the knot with the once-married man, Vaibhav Rekhi on February 14, 2021, and they were blessed with a son, Avyaan.
In an interview with the ETimes, Dia Mirza opened up about experiencing 'separation anxiety' while she was shooting for her upcoming film, Bheed. She stated that it was quite difficult for her to cope with the separation from her then-six-month-old baby boy, Avyaan. She explained that her son was kept in Mumbai with her mother and her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi as she had to travel to fulfil her professional commitments. She said:
"The separation from my son lent itself to the part I was playing. The separation anxiety of being apart from my six-month-old baby was very difficult to cope with. Avyaan was not allowed to travel and I had to leave him in Mumbai with my mother and Vaibhav (Rekhi) while I worked on this film. It's possibly the hardest thing I've ever had to do."

For the unversed, during the fifth month of her pregnancy, Dia underwent a sudden appendectomy, which was followed by an acute bacterial infection. Due to this, she had an emergency C-section in the 6th month, and her placenta started to haemorrhage. Thus, Avyaan had to be delivered prematurely and kept under observation for quite a long period of time. Talking about the same, Dia mentioned how since Avyaan came home, she didn't want to miss spending a single moment with him. And she used to say 'no' to every other project until this one which convinced Dia to come on board. Then, recalling good experiences on the set, she added:
"Avyaan had undergone multiple surgeries after birth and for over two months, I was not even allowed to hold him. After bringing him home, I wanted to spend every moment with him and would have said, 'No' to any other story but this one took hold of me and wouldn't let go. I feel, 'Bheed' will be remembered as one of the most important documents of a very significant moment in our shared history. Once I was on the set, what got me through was also the support and sensitivity of Anubhav (Sinha, director) and my co-stars. They even made sure that I did not miss my family on my birthday."
Dia is an avid social media user and keeps updating her fans with glimpses of her life. For instance, on August 21, 2022, Dia Mirza had taken to her IG handle and shared a mesmerising video of her son, Avyaan documenting the munchkins' little steps. At the beginning of the video, we could hear Avyaan's daddy's voice, asking him, 'Walk to us.' Immediately, the little fellow got up and was seen trying hard to walk towards them. However, he was seen tripping twice and watching this, Dia, who was reportedly shooting the video, said, 'Slowly Baba. Get up.' Soon, Avyaan made his final try and walked towards them, who were cheering for his cute activity. Not only that, the baby boy was also seen saying 'Hii' to them.
