Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi's marriage ceremony was a quintessential example of how weddings can help to preserve the environment, be it the sustainable fashion opted by the couple or their assurance on no food waste. In an interview with Brut India, Dia spoke about the five things they did at their wedding, from handmade personalised gifts, the hyperlocal décor, no food waste to sustainable fashion and no plastic. Speaking about sustainable fashion, Dia revealed that last time, she had auctioned her wedding attire but this time, she preferred outfits that can be reused instead of just hanging them in the cupboard. Dia said, "We tend to make garments that we can only wear once. And never wear again. And it's most unfortunate. So, the last time around I auctioned my clothes and this time around I made sure to get a garment that I could reuse and wear again and again."

Elaborating on her and Vaibhav Rekhi's wedding outfits, Dia Mirza continued, "And actually pass on, as a very wearable but a very beautiful item of clothing. So, I chose a saree and even my husband chose an outfit that he could continue wearing through life and would not to just wear it on that one day and hang it up in the cupboard and never touch it again." Dia opted for a classic bridal look that had a red Benarasi saree by Raw Mango, that can easily be re-worn for years to come, paired with a simple red dupatta draped over her head. Dia completed her wedding look with a matching gold choker, maang teeka, and jhumkas, along with green and gold bangles. Dia's updo was decorated with mogra, her makeup gave a fresh and natural look and she sported a minimal bridal mehendi. Vaibhav opted for an ivory ensemble by Raghavendra Rathore.

A month and a half after their wedding, on April 1, 2021, Dia Mirza had announced her pregnancy with Vaibhav Rekhi by posting a throwback picture from their Maldives vacation. Dia had flaunted her baby bump in the sunset picture and to announce the good news, she had written, "Blessed to be... One with Mother Earth... One with the Life Force that is the beginning of everything... Of all stories. Lullabies. Songs. Of new saplings. And the blossoming of hope. Blessed to cradle this purest of all dreams in my womb. But soon, Dia Mirza was trolled by the netizens for getting married because of pregnancy and in her response to an 'interesting question' asked by one of her followers, she had clarified the reason behind delaying the announcement. When one of the Instagrammers had asked Dia, "She tried to break the stereotypes with woman priest, why couldn't she announce her pregnancy before the marriage?" she had replied, "Interesting question. Firstly, we didn't marry because we were having a baby together. We were already marrying as we wanted to spend our lives together. We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy. We didn't announce the pregnancy until we knew its safe (medical reasons). This is the happiest news of my life. I've waited for many many years for this to happen. No way I would hide it for any reason other than medical."
