Diljit Dosanjh addresses his fans at his recent Mumbai concert and shares his views on the bans on his music while taking a dig at Bollywood.
Diljit Dosanjh has become a global sensation and the first Indian musician to perform on The Tonight Show. Every show of his 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour has been sold out, and the singer is being showered with love by his fans globally. However, the Dil-Luminati tour has recently been facing some hurdles. It all started when the tour was about to head towards Telangana, and the government issued him a notice to alter his playlist. Keeping the trend going, the singer has been receiving similar notices, and he has now spoken about the same at his concert on the home ground of all things glamour, Mumbai.
Diljit Dosanjh performed in Mumbai on December 19, 2024. At the beginning of the show, the singer addressed his fans who were present for his show and shared about the new advisory. For those who are not aware, the Maharashtra government issued an advisory for the singer's Mumbai concert. He explained it to his audience in the form of a mythological story. Similar to the government of other states, the Maharashtra government issued a notice asking the singer to alter his playlist and skip the songs that mention drugs, alcohol and violence. Before Maharashtra, the government of Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh issued similar notices before his concerts.
Diljit's team shared a video from his Mumbai concert where he was seen promising his audience that they would have fun despite the restrictions. He shared that he would make sure that his fans had double the fun during his show. He shared the mythological story of Samudramanthan during his speech and even cited Pushpa's iconic 'Aaj jhukeyga nahi' gesture. He was quoted saying:
"Maine poocha koi advisory toh nahi jaari ho gayi apni team se, unhoney bola nahi nahi sab theek hai. Aaj utha subha toh pata chala advisory jaari ho gayi hai bhai. Aap fikar nahi karey, saari advisory mere upar, aap jitna mazza karney aaye hai mai double mazza dunga. Aaj subha jab yoga kar raha tha toh ek khayal aaya man mei. Aaj k show ki shuruaat uskey saath karta hu. Jab sagarmanthan hua tha na, saarag manthan toh jo amrit tha na vo toh Devta ne piya lekin jo vish tha, jo zeher tha jo Shiv ne piya. Aur Shivji bhi vo zeher apney andar nahi lekar gaye. Unhoney apney kanth tak rakha. Toh mujhe toh yehi seekhney ko mila ki zindagi aur duniya aap par jitna marzi zeher phekey aap usko apney andar mat lekar jana."
Another video shared by Diljit Dosanjh showed him addressing his crowd once again. In the clip, he calls Mumbai the primary hub of the Hindi film industry. He also highlights how Bollywood produces a lot of songs on alcohol. He stated:
"Ye toh Mumbai hai, Mumbai right? Yahan toh badey gaane hai sharab par badey gaane. Mai waise kisi artist ka naam lena nahi chahata unkey gaano ka naam nahi lena chahata. Na waisa mere mann mei hai na mai waisa kuch kehna chahata hu. Aap logon ko zaada pata hai. Lekin mere gaano ki awaaz aajkal sabse zaada hai."
