Shoaib and Dipika had met each other on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka in the year 2011. Initially, they had started off being good friends and Dipika was already married to Raunak Mehta. But in the year 2015, she had a bitter divorce from her ex-husband, and that's when she found love again in Shoaib and she took the leap of faith and gave marriage a second chance. Coming back to Dipika's decision of converting to Islam for Shoaib, the actress had talked about it in detail in an interview with The Times of India. She had said, "It’s true I have done it, but why and when I have done it, don’t think it needs to be talked about. I think it is a very personal matter and I don’t think I need to talk about it openly in front of the media. For the audience and media we are actors have always shared everything. All our happy moments we have shared with you all, but this I think is a very personal space and I don’t give anyone the permission to enter the space. Definitely, it is true and I am not denying it. I am very happy and proud that I have done it for myself and my happiness. My family was with me in this decision and my intentions were not to hurt anyone. This is my decision." In a recent interview with the Mid-Day, Dipika had talked about maintaining a work-life balance and had given credit to her family for her success. She had stated, "I feel I am blessed when it comes to maintaining a work-life balance, given the kind of hectic work we do and the demanding nature of the industry we are in. I have been married for almost two years and I wouldn't have been able to do this without the unflinching support from Shoaib, Saba (sister-in-law) and Ammi."
She had further added, "I also feel everyone should have the right to speak up and do what they love irrespective of their gender. Marriage should not be the reason why we have to let go of our dreams and careers. It should further empower a person to chase and fulfil their dreams. My family has been such a strong pillar of my strength. It has only made me do wonders in my career."
