Staying active all day long

Disha Patani’s toned arms and washboard abs are not a result of just good genes. She puts her heart and soul into maintaining her body. One thing that we can definitely learn from her is how to stay active. While people usually go to the gym in the morning and rest all day, Disha makes sure that she works out twice a day. In the morning, she generally indulges in cardio exercises and in the evening, she lifts weights. Talking about her fitness regime, Disha once shared in an interview:

“I work out every day and my routine usually involves cardio in the mornings, like dancing, kickboxing or gymnastics, and weight training in the evenings. I supplement that with a protein-carbs diet.”

Disha is not a big fan of running on the treadmill or sweating on the spin-cycle. So, what does she do? Disha swears by gymnastics and kickboxing in the morning. Her cardio workouts also includes dance sessions but let us warn you, these dance sessions are of high intensity and it requires a lot of energy input.

For the evening sessions, Disha likes to go for heavy weights training. Contrary to the popular belief, lifting weight doesn’t make you look bulky or broad. It helps to shape up your body. A proper workout is always a mix of weights and cardio. Throwing light on the importance of fitness, Disha once shared in an interview:

“The general assumption is that women working out involves cardio, not weight training. But we all work out and do heavy weights; I come across so many girls in the gym training really hard.”

Disha makes it a point to hit the gym at least four days a week. She is a trained gymnast and flexibility comes easily to her. To make sure that she is on the right track, she tries to squeeze in Yoga in her fitness routine whenever she can.

You are what you eat

Your workout sessions are nothing without a proper diet. Even after spending hours in the gym, you will not see any results if you don’t change your eating habits. Since Disha exercises twice in a day, her diet chart is full of protein, healthy carbs and green vegetables. She drinks a lot of water as well to hydrate her body after her workout sessions.

Disha’s typical diet includes egg whites, brown rice, daal, vegetable, juice, toast, and boiled chicken. At times, she has cereal and milk for breakfast. She snacks on healthy things like almonds, peanuts and fresh fruits. She believes that workout and diet has a positive effect on your entire body. No wonder she has a perfect figure, skin, and hair!

Yes, Disha takes her fitness routine very seriously but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have cheat days, once in a while. She has one cheat meal every week and eats as much as she wants to. This keeps cravings at bay and motivates her further. Disha excitedly shared:

“I absolutely love them; in fact, I wait for cheat days the whole week. Depending on the diet I am following and my shoot schedule, I sit down once a week and eat everything I can fit into my stomach.”

Disha Patani’s body is a result of a lot of efforts. She is always motivated and on her toes. She never misses a chance to push her body to make that extra effort. Her mantra is to outgrow herself every day. She’s such an inspiration. Getting those abs is not easy but it isn’t impossible as well.
