Reportedly, Disha Vakani is all set to make a comeback after 2 years of sabbatical and will make her entry on the show, 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' during Navratri (September 29-October 7).
It was in 2008 when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, a popular show based on Taarak Janubhai Mehta Gujarati column, Duniya Ne Undha Chashma had first appeared on Chitralekha in March 1971, had aired on SAB TV. Since then, it has been 11 years now that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has engaged its audience like how! Jethalal Champaklal Gada and Daya Jethalal Gada became household names over the years and the latter’s exit from the show had broken the heart of her millions of fans. In September 2017, Daya Jethalal Gada a.k.a. Disha Vakani had taken a sabbatical from the show with her maternity break, which was followed by her two-year gap from the show. Every now and then, there were speculations about her comeback and permanent exit from the show, but nothing ever got confirmed. Disha had embraced motherhood in November 2017 with the arrival of her little angel, Stuti Pandya. Disha wanted to give her attention and time to her little daughter but her fans were eagerly waiting for her to make a comeback on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
Looks like their prayers have finally been answered! As per a SpotboyE report, Disha Vakani is all set to make a comeback after 2 years of sabbatical and will make her entry on the show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah during Navratri (September 29-October 7). According to a source, Disha and Asit Modi, the producer of the show, have finally agreed to each other’s terms and conditions to work together again.
A few months back, when the reports of Disha Vakani’s exit from the show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, had made it to the headlines, it came as a dampener for her fans. According to a BollywoodLife report, when they had contacted the show’s producer, Asit Modi, he had texted them by saying, "Can't say about the authenticity of that news. I don't know." On Disha's exit, he had commented, "Maybe true. I don't know about the final decision. My team is talking with her." To dig further, they had also contacted Disha's sister-in-law, Hemali Vakani, who had then retorted, "It is a too personal question to answer." Soon after, a SpotboyE report had quoted an insider as saying that the Disha Vakani’s return on the show is dependent on certain conditions. Stating the same, the insider had shared that she can't be the 'My Way Or The Highway' types. The source had also revealed that the major differences between the producer, Asit Modi and Disha Vakani were created by her husband, Mayur Pandya, who had started interacting with the production house (Neela Tele Films) on his wife's behalf.
As per the report, Mayur Pandya believed that Asit Modi was yet to pay Disha Vakani some amount. The insider had stated, "Lekin Mayur saab nahin mante. I think he is a CA and only he knows Maths. But those numbers are only his, not ours." Secondly, Mayur wanted his wife, Disha to work only for 15 days per month, that too only 4 hours per day. The source had shared that these conditions were unacceptable as her maternity leave is over and if she wants to come back, she should be in full spirit.
The insider had stated, "This kind of interference is difficult to understand. Our show is going well, TRPs without Daya Ben have not been affected. Every other actor is working hard on his/her track and we are converging well. If Disha wants to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, we will have to see if her comeback will justify the show. Plus, it will have to be on terms and conditions agreeable to Disha and Modi both."
In a throwback interview with The Times of India, when Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah had completed 11 years, Dilip Joshi, who plays Jetha Lal on-screen, had talked about his co-star, Disha Vakani and had stated, “I am missing Disha Vakani (who plays his on-screen wife, Daya) a lot today. I have worked with her for almost 9 and a half years and it is not a short period. I feel she is still with us, it's just that her priorities have changed now. She is a mother now and her priorities have obviously changed and today on this occasion we all are missing her.” (Also Read: Imran Khan's Professional Failures Became The Reason Behind His Separation With Avantika Malik?)
