'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' fame, Divya Bhatnagar passed away after fighting COVID-19. Her colleague and actress, Devoleena Bhattacharjee pens a eulogy for her.
One of the saddest years, 2020 had begun with the COVID-19 pandemic and the entire year went by fighting this. With an increasing number of cases each day, the global pandemic has taken many lives. From Bollywood to telly world, we have lost many gems to the virus. And now, adding to the list of celebs, who have left for the heavenly abode fighting COVID-19 is television actress, Divya Bhatnagar of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Divya Bhatnagar, who had become a household name when she had portrayed the role of ‘Gulabo’ in the serial, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, was admitted in Mumbai when her oxygen levels dropped. She had also featured in shows like Udaan, Jeet Gayi Toh Piyaa Morre, Vish and many more. It was in 2019, when Divya had surprised everyone by tying the knot with her long-time boyfriend, Gagan in a Gurudwara wedding. The actress was recently tested positive for COVID-19 and was put on ventilator.
The 34-year old, Divya Bhatnagar, who was fighting for her life from past few weeks, passed away in Mumbai. Her family had even shifted her to another hospital for better medical facilities. Her colleague and actress, Devoleena Bhattacharjee mourned Divya’s death. She took to her IG handle and wrote, “Jab koi kisi k saath nahi hota tha toh bas tu hi hoti thi...Divu tu hi toh meri apni thi jisse main daant sakti thi,ruth sakti thi,dil ki baat keh sakti thi..I know life was tooo hard on you..the pain is intorelable...but i know today you must be in a better place and free from all the sorrows,pains,sadness,cheats,lies..i will miss you divu and tu bhi jaanti thi i loved you and cared for you...Badi tu thi par bacchi bhi tu hi thi...God bless your soul.Jahan bhi hai tu abhi bas khush reh.You will be missed & remembered.I love you @divyabhatnagarofficial. In an interview with ETimes, Divya’s mother had shared how Divya’s condition was critical after her oxygen level had dropped to 71. She had stated, “Divya had temperature since the last six days. She was feeling very uneasy. I came down from Delhi and got an oximeter home. We checked her oxygen levels, they had dropped to 71. She is on a ventilator now, her oxygen level is about 84, and her condition is critical. When enquired about Divya’s husband, Gagan, Mrs. Bhatnagar had shared how he had duped her and had called him a ‘fraud’. Revealing details on how Gagan didn’t even bother to be with Divya, she had shared, “Whatever anyone may tell you, the time has come to spill the truth. Her husband was a fraud. He has left her and is not bothered to even come forward for a while. She married without informing us. I am aghast that post marriage she has been living in a very small place in Oshiwara. She was living in a big house at Mira Road earlier. She has undergone a lot in the recent past."
On December 23, 2019, Divya had tied the knot with Gagan. Divya and Gagan’s families hadn’t attended the wedding as they were against it as it was an inter-caste relationship. Talking about the same, Divya had revealed in an interview with The Times of India that Gagan and she had faced a lot of hurdles as their families did not approve of their relationship. She had also added that every time they had thought of tying the knot, they would face a new obstacle. The duo had gotten engaged in 2015, without their families' presence.
