In the field of acting, there's no doubt that Indian cinema has a wealth of talent and a whole bunch of people to be proud of. From the millennial non-mainstream actors including Vikrant Massey, Adil Hussain, Pawan Malhotra, Saqib Saleem, Ali Fazal and many more, there’s a horde of actors who play supporting roles to the protagonists and go unnoticed. Liquid from Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Divyendu V Sharmaa is one such actor! (Also Read: Deepika Padukone Is Not Surprised That Her Ex-BF Ranbir Kapoor Didn't Attend Her Wedding Reception)
With films like Chashme Baddoor, Toilet: Ek Prem Kathna, Batti Gul Meter Chalu and web series Mirzapur in his kitty, Divyendu is on cloud nine these days professionally. Not many actors like to talk openly about their personal life and Divyendu seems to be one of them as he has hardly opened up about his marriage. Not many of us know that Divyendu is a married man and he had tied the knot with his college buddy Akanksha, right after making his debut in Bollywood in 2011.
Divyendu’s close friend, Siddharth tweeted a picture with the groom on June 28, 2012, and wrote, “Wishing the super talented Divyendu Sharma a very happy married life:) Superb actor! Spectacular friend!” Speaking about his wife, Akanksha in an interview with DBPost, the Mirzapur actor stated, “Akanksha was my college buddy, we fell in love later. She is my best friend. We really like each other’s company.” When asked about his wife’s profession, Divyendu replied, “She is a jewellery designer.”
Divyendu and Akanksha are currently holidaying in Spain and a video from their vacation was recently shared on one of the paparazzi pages. Here's a little glimpse of Divyendu and Akanksha's 'us' time together:
In a 2014 interview with the Times of India, Divyendu revealed who is his emotional anchor and talked about his wife, Akanksha. Divyendu was quoted as saying, “Now, my wife Akanksha. I met her in college and we were just best friends for 6-7 years till love actually happened. We got married just after Pyaar Ka Punchnama. I realised how much I missed her in Mumbai. Actually, I had liked her right from the beginning, but did not confess earlier as I was scared about losing my friendship with her that I valued a lot.” (Also Read: Kunal Jaisingh's Wife-To-Be, Bharati Kumar's Mehendi, She Looks Ethereal In Her Simplicity)
He further added, “Her father is from the police and mother, a doctor, so I was scared that if something wrong would happen, they would suppress it both medically and criminally. I like her silences as she doesn’t talk too much and yet she is so receptive. During my struggling years, she did not once give me advice on ‘Tu body bana le or portfolio banale.’ She would only say, ‘I have faith in you. Keep at it.’ There are bad days when I would call her and say, ‘It’s all very bad out here. It just doesn’t work on merit, you know.’ I would have given a very good audition and knew from the eyes of the person taking it, but yet, I would not bag the role. It was very frustrating.”
The Brahmastra actor went on to say, “Parents usually complain that their child is not working. But in my case, it was the opposite, where I wanted to work, but was not getting work. Akanksha likes my honesty and good looks, but she would like me to express myself more. I am a very open and very light-feet person with my friends, but very reserved with outsiders or even my parents. I don’t really show my emotions in real life, but I am working on it.”
Speaking about his struggling years and how supportive was his brother-in-law, Divyendu shared, “My older sister has always been supportive and in fact, my brother-in-law treated me like a son and would always help out, but you can’t keep asking for money. I could never send her money for any rakhi, in fact, she would send me money. Till date, my sister doesn’t accept money from me, even though I am now earning well but for her, I am still her younger brother.” (Also Read: Kapil Sharma Donates Excess Food From His Wedding And Reception, And We Are Taking Inspiration)
We hope Divyendu shares more pictures with his wife, Akanksha and we wish them a lifetime of happiness and love!
