In a recent interview, Dulquer Salmaan opened up about his take on Rana Daggubati's comment on Sonam Kapoor and handled the situation with grace.
Dulquer Salmaan and his close friend, Rana Daggubati started a debate on social media when the latter called out a top Bollywood heroine for her unprofessional attitude. It so happened that Rana made some remarks against a co-actress of Dulquer, whose husband resides in London, but didn't reveal her name. However, fans were quick to point out that he was talking about Sonam Kapoor, as she worked with Dulquer in the film, The Zoya Factor.
Now, in a conversation with Zoom, Dulquer Salmaan addressed the issue and broke his silence on the ongoing rift between Rana Daggubati and Sonam Kapoor. Handling the situation with grace, the actor mentioned that he doesn't like to complain and is quite easygoing. Dulquer further clarified that Rana got concerned as the productivity was affected so the latter clarified his stance. He said:
"It is his statement so I don't really want to get into it. I am greatly fond of everybody I feel like I have the greatest set of friends across, co-actors, people in the industry. I am quite easygoing, I don't really complain and I'm okay. I think whatever he chose to say maybe he wasn't thinking. That's why he issued an apology. He's a dear friend and I guess he got concerned that it affected all of us and he clarified."

It all began with Rana’s shocking speech at the event, which created a stir on the internet. Hailing Dulquer Salmaan's achievements, Rana recalled an incident which involved Dulquer and a top Bollywood actress. Revealing how the Hindi film heroine wasted Dulquer’s time, Rana said that the big heroine was engrossed in a phone conversation about shopping in London with her husband. He further added that since her lack of focus affected the shots, he couldn’t resist his anger, but Dulquer was calm.

Following this, Rana Daggubati issued a clarification on X (formerly known as Twitter) and apologised to Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan for his statement. The actor stated that his words were misinterpreted as he didn't mean to target anyone. Rana's tweet could be read as:
“I am genuinely troubled by the negativity that has been aimed at Sonam due to my comments, that are totally untrue and were meant entirely in a light-hearted manner. As friends, we often exchange playful banter, and I deeply regret that my words have been misinterpreted.”

However, Sonam Kapoor added fuel to the ongoing matter and shared a cryptic post, taking a dig at Rana Daggubati, despite his issuing an apology. On August 16, 2023, Sonam dropped a quote from the former First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt on her IG Stories, which reads, ‘Small minds discuss people; average minds discuss events; great minds discuss ideas'. Sharing the picture, Sonam penned:
“Just a little something I'd like some people to know… especially when discussing things about people that are made up."
