Shamin parents also had an inter-religion marriage and it seems that the daughter got inspired and had a grand inter-religion marriage which comprised of nikaah cum reception where the amalgamation of Hindu and Muslim traditions was seen in one grand celebration. In one of the interviews, this is what Shamin said about marriage:

“We were never that keen on marriage as we believe in being soul mates and our commitment to each other has been since he proposed his love to me the very first month of our first year in college. But obviously my parents live in a society so they wanted us to get married and so we did. I didn't expect it would be so much fun. Atul’s parents and his siblings flew down to Assam; it was a lovely exchange of different cultures, languages and also religions in our case. Best part was that everyone was very warm and welcoming towards each other’s culture and traditions. In a three day event we had haldi, mehendi, sangeet ,small nikah followed by a grand reception. So overall it was super fun. And Marriage won’t change much between us as we have always treated each other like soul mates and that heart to heart bond matters the most.”

“The first day, 1st of December was haldi in the morning and mehendi in the evening. We had crazy fun during haldi as we danced to dhol beats. We applied haldi to each other and all the guests present; it was like we played Holi with haldi. Haldi ceremony was very emotional as it was the first pre-wedding ritual. In the evening we had mehendi where even Atul applied mehendi just my name written on his hand which was really sweet. Then the second day there was a prayer service for our togetherness and well-being and the same day evening we had the Sangeet. We had super fun dancing to Bollywood hit songs and me, Atul and my sister performed popular numbers. We had speeches by my parents and loved ones and also many performances by relatives as well. We also exchanged rings at the sangeet which was followed by cake cutting. Next morning, the 3rd day i.e. 3rd of December was the Nikaah ceremony followed by a grand reception. The bidaii was very emotional for me and my family we all cried, though I have been living in Mumbai away from my family but still emotions flowed.”

“We dated for almost 8 years. It feels great to be married to my long-time boyfriend and also it feels weird as he keeps teasing me as his wifey now, it feels surreal. All thanks to my family as they convinced me to get married which I have been putting on hold since a long time because for me and Atul it didn't matter much. But now we realise that marriage matters and everything feels more special and connected. With mehendi on my hand and bangles I feel like a different girl altogether.”
