All that keeps ‘glittering’ is gold! Gold is the easiest to maintain, of course, if you are not wearing it every day. Maheep Kapoor suggests a very easy way to maintain your gold jewellery:

“Keep gold jewellery in a satin or velvet-lined box with compartments to prevent the pieces from bumping each other”. 

Your local jeweller will tell you easy ways of cleaning your gold ornaments. Here is a simple way: Place your jewellery in water for a couple of minutes. Now take a small amount of toothpaste on a cotton ball and gently apply it on the jewellery piece. Wash them gently. Do not use brush as that will put scratches on your ornaments.

#4. Silver

Upkeep of silver jewellery is much similar to that of gold jewellery. Silver jewellery should be stored in air-tight boxes as these help in reducing exposure to metals and oxygen. It also helps in reducing the coat of oxide on silver. Nowadays, there are special clothes available in market to store silver jewellery as they help in absorbing the oxide formed on the silver articles.
