Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar had to make an appointment for couples therapy two days after their wedding, which left the therapist in shock.
Farhan Akhtar is one of the prominent figures in the Hindi film industry. From scripting some of the hit Hindi films to directing and even acting in those, Farhan is a talented individual. In his personal life, Farhan got married to a Bollywood hairstylist, Adhuna, back in 2000, and after 16 years of marital bliss, the couple parted ways. The ex-couple has two daughters, Akira and Shakya. After his wedding was over with Adhuna, Farhan started dating Shibani Dandekar, and a few years later, they tied the knot. Recently, Shibani shared some interesting details about her and Farhan's relationship.
Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar appeared on Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast, wherein the latter revealed that they took couples therapy after their engagement and also 24 hours after their wedding. Shibani shared that she and Farhan started doing their couples therapy six months before or after their engagement, and it wasn't like one person was convincing the other, and it felt to be a smart decision. In Shibani's words:
"We started doing couples therapy I think about six months before or after we got engaged. It wasn’t one person convincing the other. It was like this is something that sounds like a smart thing to do.”
In the same conversation, Shibani Dandekar jokingly added that she and Farhan even had an appointment just two days after their wedding. She shared that the therapist was stunned and asked them why they even reached there when their wedding had just happened 24 hours ago. Shibani can be quoted as saying:
"We got married on a Monday. Our signing was on a Monday and our next scheduled appointment was on a Wednesday. I remember we walked in and our therapist was like ‘Why are you guys here? You just got married like 24 hours ago?'"
Going forward in the conversation, Shibani Dandekar revealed that going to therapy is somewhat like going to the gym, and one has to keep working on it. She mentioned that there are days during the session when she and Farhan just look at each other and have nothing to talk about, and also, there are times when they require more time than usual. Talking more about the same, Shibani remarked that even when they have a fight at home, she would want to get into it right away, while Farhan would ask her to wait till they meet their therapist. Shibani shared:
"There are times where we maybe get into a fight at home and we know we’ve got to see our therapist on Wednesday. So, we will just wait or I will try and wait. I want to get into it right now and he’ll be like ‘Let’s just wait and discuss it on Wednesday’.”
In an interview with India Today, Farhan Akhtar was asked what changed in his life, after his wedding. To this, the actor shared that nothing has changed, as he and Shibani have been together for several years, and it feels like they have taken it to another level.
Talking to Bollywood Bubble, Shibani Dandekar shared that it was during lockdown when her and Farhan's relationship became even stronger. The actress shared that they share similar interests and also know how to take time on their own. Shibani revealed how she and Farhan do everything together, like playing with their pets, working out, and more. Shibani remarked how she and Farhan work on their separate terms, which helps to maintain a balance between them.
