As soon as your wedding date gets fixed and the preparations start, you should also start an exercise routine to get in shape. Anytime is the right time to exercise as long as you are determined to keep doing it regularly.

Renowned fitness expert, and the Founder and Director of JG's Fitness Centre, Shalini Bhargava, says,
“The sooner you start, the better it is, especially if you are hoping to drop a significant amount of weight. Find something you enjoy doing, as you will be then more likely to keep it up.”

As per Aditya Arora, Fitness Manager at Fitness First,
"Depending on your fitness level, you should exercise three to five days a week to ensure that muscles get sufficient time to recover and rebuild. Also, it would ensure that the body does not hit a plateau very soon, and would keep the fitness regime safe and effective."
For brides who do not have time to go to the gym, nothing is as best as running for them to stay fit. Even if you begin with 15-20 minutes per day, it will help you burn a lot of calories. Start with walking, followed by running, and then you can steadily increase your speed. Running is the best calorie burner and an hour of running can burn up to 600 calories. And for those, who do not have time to go out and run, Shalini advises to ‘run on chair’. She says,
“Run on your chair to get a cardio boost. And this way, you will also engage your abs, arms, and legs.”
To do this exercise, you have to simply sit straight on the chair and do the running motion with your legs while moving your arms simultaneously.

Various studies show that omega-3 fatty acids are very effective in reducing the fat, especially when you take them while exercising regularly. It is the anti-inflammatory property of the omega-3 fatty acids, which helps your body to get rid of fat and facilitate the process of muscles building. Fitness expert at Dumbelled.com, Neha Chandna, says,
"Omega-3 fatty acids support the normal healthy skin cell turnover that helps keep acne at bay. You can get them from cold water fish, such as salmon, flaxseed oil, walnuts, sunflower seeds and almonds."
Shalini says,
“Omega-3 fatty acids are not just good for your heart, but they also keep your skin and hair healthy. Nuts, flaxseeds and fish are good options.”
Hence, it is suggested by many health and fitness experts to eat omega-3 rich diet to burn fat.

The hectic schedule might leave you with no time to go out to the gym or any other exercise classes. Hence, the experts suggest all soon-to-be brides to exercise at home.
Renowned personal fitness trainer and the founder of Fitnesolution, Kiran Sawhney, suggests,
"At home, one can exercise and shape up with simple things like tubing, thera band or resistance bands, dumbbells, barbells, etc. Do not neglect sculpting exercises and toning up the muscles while aiming for weight loss."

Shalini also suggests following ‘at home’ exercises for our busy brides:

Another exercise suggested by Shalini is the ‘standing leg curl’. To do this exercise, firstly join your knees and lift your left leg backwards. Bring it in a position parallel to the ground. Now, gently kick your left foot backwards aiming for your heel to the top of your thigh and bring it back to the ground.
Now, do the same steps with your right leg and repeat for 15 times. In case your balance is not good enough, then you can take support of a chair or something of similar height. Doing this exercise regularly will tone your legs and make your hamstrings stronger. Watch this video for better understanding:
Exercising regularly is good to keep you fit and healthy, but it is equally important to keep yourself well-hydrated. Renowned obesity and lifestyle disease consultant, Naini Setalvad, says,
" It is really important to stay hydrated because sometimes, what may look like stubborn fat might be nothing but water retention. As you work out hard to lose weight and also increase your protein intake to build muscle mass, your body could be releasing more toxins. To flush them out of your system, make sure you drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day."

Shalini suggests,
“Drinking sufficient water throughout the day is very important for your body, skin and hair. Besides water, also take green tea as it boosts metabolism and makes you feel energetic. Take vegetable juices to detox your body. Also, drink coconut water as it provides the necessary electrolytes.”
