Every kid has at least once picked up a bat in their life, and when it comes to the Indian Cricket Team, fans are interested in their game, their personal lives and sometimes even their children. So, when your kid is a good sportsperson, eyes are meant to be on them.

Former India all-rounder Sanjay Bangar, known for his determination for the games, seems to have transferred the gene to his child. Aryan Bangar, who is a well-known player in the league, made a significant decision and chose to undergo a gender reassignment surgery. Post-surgery, known as Anaya Bangar, is one of the rare transwomen who wants to play cricket, but the path is not easy for her.

Anaya Bangar opens up about her struggles with hormonal transformation

Anaya shared a video on her Instagram handle, opening up about the changes she has undergone due to the hormonal transformation procedure on November 10, 2024. In the shared video, Anaya reflects on the effects HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) has had on her over the last 11 months.

Anaya Bangar opens up about losing skills and muscle mass since Hormone Replacement Therapy

In a post in August 2024, Anaya shared a post on her Instagram handle, opening up about the effects Hormone Replacement Therapy is having on her. She shared that her muscle mass, strength, muscle memory and athletic abilities have significantly gone down since her therapy started. Anaya added that she had never pictured that she would have to give up on a sport she has loved all her life because she chose to undergo a sex reassignment surgery. She shared:

The cricketer has scored many runs playing for different clubs, including Islam Gymkhana and Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire. Still, she is now facing the harsh reality that she might never get to play again as she does not pass all the guidelines set by the sports board when it comes to trans people.

Anaya took to Instagram earlier in August 2024 and penned a post sharing how her testosterone levels are down to 0.5 nmol, yet she doesn't have a place to represent her country. She never thought that she would have to give up her sport for who she is. Anaya posted:

The England and Wales Cricket Board and ICC's policy for trans women

Anaya currently lives in Manchester. However, it is yet to be revealed which team she plays for. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has declared a ban on transgender women from playing at the elite level of women's domestic cricket starting in 2025. Any trans woman who has undergone transition after hitting male puberty will be ineligible to feature in the top two tiers of the women's game. The ban follows the decision from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in November 2023.
