Subhash Dandekar, who once served as the President of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and founded Camlin Group, passed away on July 15, 2024.
Subhash Dandekar passed away on July 15, 2024, leaving a void in the hearts of his many fans, followers and his family. He was instrumental in transforming Camlin Group of Industries into a leading name in India. Subhash founded the stationery brand, Camlin, which generally produced high-quality stationery materials. However, later, he sold the popular artwork brand to Japan's Kokuyo, and since then, was serving as the chairman emeritus of Kokuyo Camlin.
On July 15, 2024, Subhash Dandekar left for his heavenly abode. The man behind Camlin Group of Industries was in his 80s when he passed away in Mumbai, leaving behind his family. His body was cremated in central Mumbai on July 15, 2024. As per a report in the TOI, his family members revealed that they had organised a condolence meeting on July 18, 2024.

It is noteworthy that under Subhash Dandekar's exceptional leadership, Camlin significantly expanded its product range all over India. Moreover, it began including office supplies, professional artist tools, and educational materials such as mathematical instruments, pencils, markers, and inks. His dedication to such work has indeed influenced many in shaping the business industry.
President of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Lalit Gandhi was immensely proud of Subhash Dandekar's work. Thus, praising him once during an interview, Lalit said that Dandekar made a significant contribution to the industrial sector of Maharashtra. Moreover, Lalit mentioned how it was only because of Subhash Dandekar's contribution that Camlin even reached the international level.

From 1990 to 1992, Subhash Dandekar served as the President of the apex institution of the State’s trade and industrial sector, the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries. As per reports, Lalit had also mentioned how during the period when India adopted an open economy, Subhash Dandekar effectively led the MCCAI. Lalit revealed that it was Subhash, who effectively worked towards educating traders and entrepreneurs across the State on behalf of the apex institution to face the new challenges.
