Born as Gauri Chibber to Savita and Colonel Ramesh Chandra Chibber into a Punjabi family, Gauri did her schooling at two of the most reputed schools in Delhi. She began her schooling at Loreto Convent School and later completed her high school at Modern School Vasant Vihar.
After completing her schooling, Gauri enrolled into Lady Shri Ram College and pursued B.A (Hons) in History. LSR is one of the most popular colleges at Delhi University and is counted as one of the best. After graduation, Gauri did a six-month course in fashion design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
Gauri has a deep understanding of aesthetics, and her unique style and creativity add charm to her designs. However, she has not received any formal training in interior design. It is her passion and experience in the field that have made her a leading name in the industry. Over the years, Gauri has adapted to innovative ideas and has experimented with designs.
Gauri Khan began her career by establishing the production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, along with her husband, Shah Rukh Khan. Her production house has produced some major hit movies like Om Shanti Om, Main Hoon Na, Student of the Year, Happy New Year, Dear Zindagi, and many others.
Gauri’s career as an interior designer began when she started designing her Bandra residence, Mannat. She ventured into interior designing professionally along with her friend, Sussane Khan, as the two launched the Charcoal Project Foundation in 2011. Gauri launched her own design studio, Gauri Khan Designs, in Mumbai in 2017. And since then, Gauri has designed spaces for many leading names.
In 2018, Gauri Khan was bestowed with the Excellence in Design award at the Hello Hall Of Fame Awards, and it was none other than Shah Rukh Khan who beamed with pride as she went up to the stage to receive the award. In her acceptance speech, Gauri had remarked:
“For the last thirty years, I have attended so many award functions with my husband and this is the first time that I have received an award and he is sitting right here, this one is for you."
