Geeta Phogat is hoping to get back to her fit self as being an athlete, that’s most important for her. She posted a then-and-now collage with her May 2019 and May 2020 pictures with an inspiring note.
A lot has been said and written about how a celebrity mother has to get rid of her post-pregnancy weight as soon as possible to avoid the judgement and trolls. But just as much as it is important for the celeb mommies to maintain the ‘perfect’ figure, it is equally important for an athlete to get back to their fit self and resume their careers. It doesn’t matter if you are a celebrity or a sportswoman, a newbie mother must gradually in the most natural way, try to lose their post-pregnancy weight and get fit for no one but herself! The struggles of being a mother are real and while weight gain and stretch marks are temporary, the permanent badge of honour is your little one by your side. Geeta Phogat had resumed her workout and fitness regime when her son, Arjun Saroha had turned four-month-old but had to pause it. Revealing the reason, Geeta had shared in an interview with the Hindustan Times, “Pregnancy ke baad I have gained 25 kg weight. Main ek athlete hun aur mai fit body mein confident mehsoos karti hun. Is body main aisa nahi hai ki mujhe achha nahi lag raha, lekin main chahti hun ki main apni fitness barkarar rakhoon... So recently, when Arjun turned four and a half month, I resumed my workout. Usi time maine dekha ki Arjun ache se feed nahi le paa raha tha. Toh humare physiotherapist ne salah di ki abhi heavy exercises mat karo jab tak bachha breastfeed le raha hai. That’s why I had to pause my exercise regimen because right now my kid is very small and uski health meri health se zyaada important hai!” (Also Read: Geeta Phogat's Son Arjun Saroha's 'Jab We Met' Picture With His Nani Is All About Unconditional Love)

In an interview with the Filmfare, Geeta Phogat had revealed the unknown details of her life that we haven’t seen in the film, Dangal, which is based on her life and struggles. Speaking of her childhood memories of training with her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, Geeta had said, “It’s not possible to forget those initial 5-6 years of my training. Those were the most difficult years. We had to work really hard be it scorching heat or cold winters. My father used to wake us up at 3:30 in the morning and we had to practise in the akhada for three hours. Post which we went to school and on returning in the evening, we had to train again for 2-3 hours. The akhada and our father were the only two things we saw in our lives at that point.”
How they had spent those years thinking about survival and the thought of resting was ‘hanikarak’ for them, Geeta Phogat had continued, “After the morning training got over, all that was on our mind was the evening training. At the end of the day, all we could think about was the next day’s gruelling training and how we’d survive it. We spent those years just thinking about survival. Every time we thought about taking a break, our father would reprimand us by shouting out, ‘If a school going kid thinks of bunking school and if a person thinks of resting instead of working hard then that person will never achieve success in his or her life.’ The very thought of taking a rest was ‘hanikarak’ to our being. (Laughs) He demanded we keep working hard and the concept of slowing down just didn’t exist in his dictionary.” (Also Read: Smriti Khanna's Befitting Reply To Trolls, Who Targeted Her For Getting Back In Shape Post-Pregnancy)
